When I first heard Canon in D was in the 1980's movie Ordinary People with Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore and Timothy Hutton. That's when I fell in love with this particular piece of music.

@@vions James, I can't recall when I first heard it , but I loved it instantly, and never tire of hearing it, I think it really is a timeless classic. I am not a musicologist and my only music training is private guitar lessons when I learnt to read music from an excellent teacher, but in my opinion Pachelbel must have been a musical genius ! What a great gift to the world !!
