try HP or brother but HP was the most reliable so far, never again canon sutch a pain in ....

It solve the E5 error in my printer. But i pressed the reset for 4 times instead of 5 times. Thanks.

I have an MP140, about 15 years old now and has always worked perfectly depite being run on injected ink refoills for the last 5 years. This morning it wouldn't load paper, eventually got it to print a page. I got it out to investigate and it was sitting in a pool of ink, must be because I reset the waste ink tank counter years ago and it is now overflowing. Tried to get to the tank by taking the side off and lifting the head cleaning unit out. but impossible to get to the ink tank. Plugged it back in, paper still jamming then it got in a state where it just flashed E3 on startup. Tried resetting the EEPROM from the service menu, no change. Smashed it ont he ground a few times, still not working and ink cardridges fell out! Then I tried ramming a thick sheet of corrugated cardboard through it and tugging it back and forth. Just about to give up when something came loose and started rattling around. It ws part of a pen cap, with that removed turned it on and it works perfectly again!!!

I have the mp140 and it's never given me any trouble ever, 7 years old and still goes like a dream. though I should plug it into my laptop at some point and clean the heads they haven't been cleaned for long. wasn't expecting that at the end with the hard reset though

Maybe because you used only genuine cartdriges - if you refill them u get E5 error - why do you think I am here? romanian: probabil din cauza ca ai folosit cartuse originale - daca le faci refill iti da eroarea E5 - de ce crezi ca sunt aici?

Peace be upon you. I have a problem with my Canon printer mp140. An error code has appeared E 2. 3. E The printer does not respond to the beep for the error. I have the same crappy printer and it gave me a lot of headache like you had . Why in hell they make such garbage printers and if you run out of ink ,you can not use the scanner . Big assholes companies when they get so greedy and stupid and they say we have too much electronic junk ..... it is because of greedy stupid managers like those .

Canon the worst printers. I'm using original cartridge, still same. I've even tried to erase the EEROM using a different software. Its doesn't work at all. STUPID PRINTER. I'll buy a HP instead. Never buy a canon.
