Basically,I giving a thumbs down with the reason why not make a video out of it, instead using a slideshow. The actual selling point is the direct wireless print from mobile devices,such a phone. So those finding how to connect "direct wifi" via printer itself, follow this step: 1)power on the printer. 2) press the wireless button for about ,2 to 3 second until it lights up with blue blinking light. 3)then press once for" black copy button" and NOT COLOR COPY BUTTON. 4)now going to press back the wireless button,where u want to switch either you want network, or direct wifi, or you can choose both also,by click once on the wireless button for switching. 5)after what mode you want or confirm,then press the "black copy button.the results you will see the wireless button blue lights is off and then only lights up the mode you switch,means network lights will lights up if you choose it,or direct wifi. 6)now go to your wifi setting from the mobile devices,means your phone.then search and on the wifi.then you will see listing the "Canon e470"as example. 7) connect the the printer,the results will ask you to put in password,where's the password is located on your printer box or behind the sticker.the serial number is your password.NEED CAPS LOCK FOR PASSWORD. 8) finally, download the "Canon selphy" app from the Google store or iOS store and install.after install, proceed find printer and follow the app instructions. But wifi router is not connected. It says "Connected" then a message "Failed to communicate with printer" Canon E477.

It did worked on my system! Just make sure your home got a router. Or else use direct access point mode.

Because E470 does not have a screen + keypad for you to key-in your WiFi password, this setup is needed. Just follow exactly the instruction and it will work. However, if your computer is connected to 5.0GHz wifi, this will fail at the last step when the printer is trying to connect to your WiFi network because it can only detect 2.4GHz wifi network. Even if it failed to connect to your network, another window will pop up and prompt you set up the wireless connection through USB cable. During this setup, your printer will 'use' your laptop to detect all available wifi network, you can then select your wifi and key in password through your computer. Once it's connected, you can then remove the USB cable and you won't need it anymore because your printer is connected to your home network.

During setup step 2 there will be an option in the bottom right corner named "about connection methods" click on that and connect to the WiFi named canon in your computer and it should work

open your printer. Press and hold Wi-Fi button and release it when Wi-Fi lamp flashes. Press Color button. Press Wi-Fi button twice (both direct n network button flash) Press Color button or Black button. The printer starts printing the network setting information. (there will be password in the printed paper). hopefully it helps you.

If first time printer unable to connect to WIFI. Would need to turn on the WPS of your WIFI router. The way the printer connect to your WIFI without having to type in the WIFI password. It is through WPS function. You need to activate WPS during the time the printer is connecting to WIFI to configure the WIFI connection for first time. This video does not explain this at all.

Installation went easily though the HP Smart Printing doesn't work well with our laptops - having to select the actual device. Will have to see how the HP Instant Ink program works out. Plus haven't been able to set up printing from smartphone yet - either direct or WiFi

since printer has no keyboard to enter wifi password, I use mobile phone to run the canon print app, then the app allow me to enter wifi password, then I think password was saved in printer, after I can print from phone, my desktop can find the printer in printer list.
