Very good video! I upgraded from the r to the r5 because I thought then I can crop in 200% if I have to und do have still the quality from the r. It was very disappointing, even the HQ does not hold up 200% cropped against the r 1080p.

You can't compare with GH5 like this. R5 is full frame, GH5 is 4/3, the superior sharpness you get is because you have not adapted the aperture. At f/3.5 with full frame, this close, 60% of your scene is blurred. But with 4/3 sensor, you had to pull gh5 back so it's like go to F/6, so yeah blurred go sharp. Can't say GH5 is better for that, it's look like digital to me. Thank you for your channel anyway, your work is really cool.

Hello do you think the 1080p is better than the eos r??

Thanks for the video and all the time for it. Interesting and I use 1080 for smaller projects - YT. I don’t own r5 but I’ve seen standard 4K footage been sharpened and then it looked good. How’s the 1080 footage after careful sharpening? Is 1080 also overheating safe as the 4K standard. I assume after the latest 1.3.1 update even 1080 IQ got improved.

Hey Martin, you can definitely clean up the 1080 to make it look better, and the good news is you will never have to worry about overheating issues in that mode. I was actually quite shocked to discover in the newest 1.3 update that if I set standard 4K to an IPB light codec, it came out at almost exactly the same size as 1080p in ALL-I. This meant I was able to get almost identical picture quality at double the physical size without any extra memory eaten up. I think I'll do a video on this pretty soon. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, and I hope you have a great day!

@@DeafDirector Thanks for your answer, appreciate it! It's funny with Canon cameras, at first "everybody" rants them and after some updates becomes really capable cameras especially the R5. Looking forward to getting it.

Was this exported in 4K, so the 1080 up scaled?
@DeafDirector4 жыл бұрын
Hey Amanda, yes I shot and edited the video in 1080 and then did a 4K export at the end. Thanks for the comment!

Very few people are filming anything that deserves 4k.

So Crazy question. Can you record 1080P in Raw, and if so can it be recorded on SD card or would you need CF card? Why..... Advantages smaller files sizes and then you can use Topaz AI to upscale final render to 4k for convincing 4K output

if compare canon 90D 1080p video vs. R5 or R3's 1080p with no color grading, is there is a big difference? thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for this. I am shooting a football game tomorrow and I was tossing up between 1080p 50 fps and 4k 25 fps (both in crop mode) and when I saw that 1080p crop mush I was like omg. I am going with the 4k :)
@DeafDirector3 жыл бұрын
Good call, Shawn. And if you've upgraded your firmware to version 1.3, you might be able to use IPB Light to shoot 4K 50fps at a manageable size. The new IPB Light codec is incredibly size efficient. I haven't tested it out with sport video yet, but it has worked really well for me for KZbin videos. I plan on doing a video soon to compare it to 1080p. Thanks for the comment and have fun at the game!

@@DeafDirector Thanks for the reply. I would love to shoot 4k 50p (slow mo for highlights edit) but I think it will overheat, I will be shooting nearly non stop for 2 hours. My only other option is 1080p non crop but this sport has a massive field and I think I might be too far away. I suppose I could get a ninja but its a bit last minute haha

@@shawn5210 Overheating is definitely a concern. I don't know about 50fps, but I have definitely had overheating at 4K, 60 fps. Even though you can't shoot slow mo, the 4K (cropped) looks beautiful. Enjoy the shoot
