Great video! Do the 16mm f2.8 to demonstrate the dearth between the ends of the lenses respective lines.

Hey dudes, This is the Canon RF 14-35mm L IS USM lens. And I have to say the image quality from this lens is outstanding. Its optical quality is amazing. The close focusing is insane and opens up a lot of creative avenues for photographers and videographers alike. But let me know your thoughts. Do you own the Canon RF 14-35mm L IS USM zoom lens?

I personally love the build of these lenses and the overall fit & finish, well refined. Scratches on metal lenses would be more visible, no? Their great whites are mostly metal I believe.
@cinechimp Жыл бұрын
Hey James you actually raise some good points, the plastic most like does hold the physical look better as the colouring is most likely embedded into the plastic at moulding. Opposed to metal lenses needing to either be anodised or painted.

I have a RF15-35 f2.8 with my C70 and i thinking buy 14-35mm F4L. It is lighter and more manageable. Don't worry F4. Indoor I use lights. Thanks for video!

Thanks for sharing. Like you, I also run the RF 15-35 on my Canon C70. But when I really need to go wide, putting either the 14-35 or 15-35 on a full frame body looks amazing.

Awesome! Love the organization of your video. How do you think this would perform on the R7 or R10?
@cinechimp2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the Kudos brother. I think the Canon 14-35mm would make you very happy. You will get better performance with a cropped sensor as the best part of the lenses optics, the centre will only be recorded. Better edge to edge sharpness, contrast and illumination. Plus, when you're ready to step up to FF, you can take the lens with you.

Great lens for vlogging! I got the 24-105 when I vlog and debating on getting the more expensive 2.8, would it be worth the price for golf and lifestyle vlogs??

That all comes down to whether you can afford to spend the extra money. I cant say I have ever been disappointed buying a faster version of a lens.

F4 is where - in all my testing at least - all Canon lenses seem to start performing the best.

The days when being plastic inherently meant cheap and short-lived are gone. It is possible to make high-end products from modern plastics. This lens is designed to require distortion correction either in-camera or post. At the short end, the lens is actually about 12mm. Only after correction it is a 14mm.
@cinechimp3 ай бұрын
You did see the part where I tested it against Canons 14mm Prime which is much wider than the zoom, so Im not sure if it is actually about 12mm as you suggest, its more like a 15mm.
@TheBigBlueMarble3 ай бұрын

I always thought the build quality looks good to me, but i'v never actually held an rf lens in real life. For that amount of money I feel like they shouldn't feel cheap.
@cinechimp2 жыл бұрын
yeah I dont know why Canon is persisting with plastic lenses over milled aluminium. I get the weight difference, but for guys like us that come from the cinema world, they do not come across as durable. However, in saying this - the Rf 14-35mm image quality is incredible. It is worth the money
@leonarddai49982 жыл бұрын
it's okay to me in terms of build quality, still a plastic build quality, don't expect the build quality is like a sigma high end lens with metal build
@itacatv2146 Жыл бұрын
Canon has the worst build quality of any major lens maker. I have a ef 16-35 f2.8 and without ever falling to the ground it snapped above the mount. When I called the service, they told me that’s actually a feature, because it introduces a weak link that prevents the lens getting completely destroyed in case it falls to the ground. I knew that’s BS, considering mine never fell to the ground. I’ll have to fix it sooner or later and I’m predicting it will cost a looooot. My Viltrox apsc Fuji lenses are way better in terms of build quality. Not even close. Canon? NEVER AGAIN!

Was going to get this lens but then the 15-35 2.8 went on sale for 1999 I got that instead, I can justify the extra 500 bucks the min I walk into a bad lighting area such as a church or museums.

@cinechimp2 ай бұрын
Have you ever had a plastic lens snap in half when your crash cam accidentally gets a light bump. I have. Plastic lenses just are not good for pro level work. And a light weight for me is 1-2 kilos, heavy is over 7. Every ones opinions are relative. SMH at people who don't publish and do nothing but criticise free information on YT.

@cinechimp2 жыл бұрын
The warranty is a tricky thing to talk about because it is region specific. Coming from the film industry, Im just not a fan of plastic lenses. They are good if weight is a concern
@melvinjohnson20742 жыл бұрын
This lens is a distortion machine at wide angle. It's so bad that distortion correction is forced on with the resulting loss of resolution. This may be acceptable for most of you but I can afford NOT to own this lens.
@cinechimp2 жыл бұрын
Each to their own creatively. Lens distortion is a cinematic tool that is designed into lenses. Some 50K lenses have far worse distortion. Its how you use the "look of the lens" to aid telling your story.
@danielson_9211 Жыл бұрын
The distortion is because in reality the lens is really a 13.7 not a 14mm, so with corrections turned on it crops it to a 14mm, I tried this against the 14mm Samyang lens.
