Its 2006, youre 12 and you just learned about youtube. After watching potter puppet pals because its all the rage you look at the other ot watched videos of all time. One labeled “guitar” shows up and you click it. It is unlike anything youve ever heard before and its beautiful. You go on AIM and tell your friends about it and it keeps going ‘viral’ back when youtube was just 5 big creators and random unruly vids and no care for sponsors.13 years later the tune is still in your head and you search it and find it and your eyes moisten as you hear it for the first time in over 10 years despite occasionally humming the tune. It was a lifetime ago, and nothing is the same, but this is still beautiful as ever.

I'm almost 30. When i was 15, this video was one of many that inspired me to heavily invest myself into guitar. That same year I had a near death accident that would change my life. I was crushed using an ATV, and sustained major injuries including a broken back, ruptured spleen, crushed kidney, and broken left wrist. I pulled through this, got out of the hospital, and with a cast on my arm was determined to continue to play. I got a lot heavier into metal as power cords where some of the only things i could manage with my hand in that cast. I recovered from the accident, went back to school and my life went back to 'normal". Except for the pain. But all my favorite musicians where addicts...did drugs make you a "better" musician? Its not like anyone expects to become an addict, but to any aspiring musicians out there, drugs will not make you a better player. Its up to you to get past whatever mental roadblocks you may have to your creative mind. I am almost one year sober. I lost all of my playing capability from not practicing or playing at all for years now . but I'm inspired again...and determined. Its time people step up also to make the world a little bit of a better place. You can take all of this shit and deal with it and realize life goes on, or you can fade away. Learn to love life. if everyone could just take what they need and give the rest, care about each other and be loving in this world things will find peace. I wish everyone luck in thier lives. Keep your heads up.

Shoot man, I just turned 30 myself. I remember this video when KZbin first came out back in the Myspace days! I love music -- I mainly play piano. But I too was heavily addicted to drugs. Overdosed numerous times. Most of my friends are either in jail, dead, or God knows where. As for me, I've been sober for 15 months. I hadn't spent more than 3 months sober since I was 15 haha so I'm in a good place now,,, or better I mean. This world is such a selfish place it can be really hard ya know? And I probably would have given up myself if I hadn't reached out in a prayer for help. I hope you keep hanging in there man. There is definitely more to life than just being alive! My list goes in this order God, family, music, football. Clinging to what makes me happy has helped,,, but I had to learn to love myself first before I could make it out of the pit of death I was in. But if I can do it anyone can. Sounds like you're doing good man, and you're trying to encourage others too which is one of the main ways we help ourselves -- while remaining balanced where that's concerned. Keep playing that guitar! I used my stimulus check to get a rad keyboard so I been jamming on that sucker every day. Had to evacuate because of the hurricane in the south for a couple of days, and I already missed it! Just got back home though. At any rate, sending peace and prayers your way bro. The name's Cody.

I remember hanging out with friends in 2006 when I was a teenager, and one of my best friends, Colin, showed us this cool site he found called "KZbin." He wanted to learn to play the guitar, so he showed us this video (one of the uploads, at least) and talked about how much it inspired him and how he was watching it every day. And he ended up getting really good at guitar thanks to this video. Unfortunately, he passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly about ten years ago, but I still come back to this video from time to time because it reminds me of that day and how excited he was to show us. Crazy to believe that was well over fifteen years ago now.

Funny enough, He's not the one that made this arrangement. JerryC is the original that made the backing track and uploaded the first video of himself playing Canon Rock. This guy just took JerryC's backing track and uploaded his own video.

Wow i was 16 when this video came out and the nostalgia is actually better than any drug (ive done em all). Times are so good when youre young and free. 20s suck dick but then 30s you figure out what life really means to you and yeah you get a sense of calm and knowingness, that everything will ALWAYS be alright. Forever.

I’ve had a lot of friends come and go from my life since this video was first posted. Some have gone on to have successful careers, fall in love, and start families. Some have passed on to whatever comes next, having moved away from this mortal coil sooner than they deserved. 15 years is such a long time, and in the same breath you could say it’s barely anything at all. Nostalgic milestones like this serve as reminders to reminisce - if we’re privileged enough to do so - and to enjoy the days and friendships both past and present while we light a torch for future generations to make their own memories.

I gave the audio to this video to our wedding DJ for my wife to walk down the aisle to. She showed up 20 minutes late. And this played on a loop while all of us sat there wondering what was up. But in the mean time we rocked the f out to the bets ever rendition of Canon D. Still best day of my life. ...she eventually did show up. 17 years and going strong !

I remember watching this for the first time several months after this was uploaded. Wow. I was about 10 years old, and KZbin was just starting to get popular where I grew up. Every time anyone mentioned KZbin, I would associate it with this video (thinking that this was one of ten videos that were uploaded at the time). In any case, this, along with the film School of Rock (which came out a few years prior), inspired me to play guitar. Man, what a legend.

I saw this video when I was in middle school, back when Guitar Hero was big. I am now 27 and look back at the bits and pieces of this I've learned throughout the years. Looking how far I've come and how long it has been. I can play this in its entirety these days. What I mean to convey is this: To anyone watching this who is aspiring to play like this one day... NEVER GIVE UP. It only takes patience, practice and most importantly - an immense love for the guitar.

easy, because he hit the original meaning of the music. most covers are reduced on hitting the notes as fast as possible on a e-guitare and loosing the source. music is meaned to deliver a emotion, if you loose the emotion its just noise.

Not knowing what the fuck I was doing, I began my journey of learning this song. It was of course miles out of my league but that didn't phase me.
