In the second half of the 1960s, Texas Instruments developed the Caltech calculator. This project aimed to gain knowledge and experience in designing and producing Large-Scale Integrated (LSI) circuits for the consumer market. In cooperation with Texas Instruments, Canon developed the Pocketronic, using the TI chipset consisting of three MOS-LSI chips (TMC1730, TMC1731, and TMC1732), as well as the TI thermal printer.
