the 11" Pro uses a regular retina LCD display. only the 12.9" Pro has the mini-LED XDR display for HDR

I'm an 12 inch iPad Pro user, but it's the one difference from the pro I really want, which is missing. The ProMotion MiniLED display makes such a difference for note-taking latency and editing experience in Lightroom. I wish they would release a Mini Pro version because I think the Mini is the best companion for a MacBook Pro. (Especially with the new Universal control features.)

I wish they would release an iPad Mini with the ProMotion display because it's the only "Pro" feature I need from the actual iPad Pro but I like the smaller formfactor.

The Air looks great, but I ended up buying the Mini instead of pre-ordering. There's something useful but special about a small premium tablet that would fit perfectly for me. The Air seems like a sort-of MacBook replacement, the Mini feels like it complements my MacBook Air M1 a lot more.

Haven’t thought about accessibility purposes on the iPad. Like everyone else, the camera and other features were useless, but for someone who has trouble seeing or hearing there are some advantages. Viewer has a point and I thank you for changing my mindset.

I went all in for my M1 12.9" iPad Pro after years with the Mini and 11" Pro. I just can't go back to a smaller tablet after using this big beautiful Pro for several months. I also use it with the magic keyboard which is so much easier to type on compared to the 11" Pro's MK. The only upgrade I'd be interested in now would be an even bigger iPad Pro. Excellent video, mate!!

I got my M1 iPad Pro 2 weeks before the new Air was announced, absolutely no regrets. I'm hopeful that the new Pro will be a significant upgrade, as the Apple Trade-In Program will no doubt take a significant chunk out of the cost to upgrade. Either way, iPads are a fantastic upgrade to any workflow, Apple has come a long way with them

I prefer an iPad over a laptop. iPad is user friendly . Had the iPad Air 4. 64GB. 5G streaming 256GB 8 GB RAM sold me to upgrade to iPad Air 5 Blue again. iPad Pro has great features but wouldn’t use them all. iPad Air 5 is perfect for consumption. Use Bluetooth headphones and speaker and my eyes don’t focus fast enough to use 120hz. Overall big improvement to me.

So I heard people were complaining about the built quality of Ipad air 5 being worse than ipad air 4. For example, on ipad air 5 they can feel the internal components by pressing the back plate and it also makes a creaking noise. Can anyone who owns an ipad air 5 confirm this?

Not everyone cares that much about 120 hz.. I sold my ipad Pro M1 because I got an ipad mini 6 and couldn't stop using it instead of the pro, even tho I know the former is better, we all want/need different things and sometimes, when I watch reviews, it feels like the pros are the only good options, maybe someone just wants a 256 gb air instead of a 128 gb pro bc they care more about storage than the screen? anyways... great video as always :D the quality of your content makes it really enjoyable

Habe the 12,9“ pro, bought it as I worked more and more with an iPad due to Covid (mail, zoom and teams calls). So I got the bigger screen just to find out couple of month later that my company raised their security bars and didn’t allow anymore private devices. Now I wished I just would have taken the 11“. But as my wife is painting I might give the pro to her and might look into the air M1. But to be honest, I somehow hope Apple presents a new case iPad with laminated screen. I miss having a headphone jack and the non laminated screen on the current one is biggest pet peeve. So if they would do bring that I even would be happy with such an device. Great video Isaac! I definitely agree with a lot of these points, as I’ve transitioned from using a laptop to using an iPad as my main computing machine, it’s been pretty much a year since the switch. Using the iPad has definitely been more fun than a laptop, but has its complications. Which is sad because they’re all software limitations, which could easily be fixed but likely won’t be to avoid cannibalising laptop sales. Do you recommend the magic keyboard despite its price? I’ve been using an external Logitech one and I love it, the feel is great, but I think having it all in one would be nice. Btw, I saw your Safari favorites organization… nice 😉

great analysis of the iPad air. I think Apple was also trying to be cunning with the prices because while $599 is a good starting price, it only comes with 64GB which might not be enough for most people. for most people, 128GB is a good balance. interestingly, the air does not have 128GB. it jumps straight to 256GB. and at that storage, price enters iPad pro territory ($749 I believe). for $50 more you can get the iPad Pro 128GB with all the features you mentioned in the video and be completely satisfied with the package. Personally, I think promotion is a deal-breaker. but it will be interesting to see how people decide between these two products. Cheers!

Hi, I like how you do not hold back with both positive and potentially critical comments about this product. I personally don't have this but I do have a Pro Model. I've been watching a lot of iPad Air videos recently since I own an older Pro model (11" 2020) which is basically the same size as you mentioned. I guess the main difference between most of the people I've been watching and what I do is that I am a business person rather than a creatives person. Most of the tasks I do actually do not require pro features such as 120hz, among others. However I think what really sets this and the base Pro apart is the storage. 64 gb is sometimes just not enough if anything, and a 128 model really would not hurt this line. The next best upgrade is a 256 gb model but that's just 50$ shy of the base 128 gb from the Pro lineup. I think for people like me, that's actually a really easy choice to make. So I was curious about your thoughts on moving from a higher storage to a lower storage, considering that while cloud services are available, a lot of local files still need to be stored for other reasons. I guess from your perspective, how was it like trying to do day to day tasks given the smaller storage? Have you tried pushing the storage capacity to the limits? I also heard that this model still isn't getting a thunderbolt so the file transfer from a physical wire might be messy.

Macbook air is far better than ipad air, you get more storage with macbook air but if you just wanna use apple pencil to make notes then try to go for ipad pro’s base storage varient and get a logitech keyboard

I have the m1 12.9 and its great i got it the day it came out and now since i do a lot more work and traveling I’m thinking about condensing to a smaller iPad I’m tempted to get the air also tempted to just get the 11” only problem is i know they will make a better pro model soon and I don’t want to miss out so I think waiting for the new 11” will be my best bet i love all your videos bro and I’m going to get some off your sick backgrounds off your site soon keep it up we all appreciate the content.

My personal opinion: the new pro will most likely have an updated chip, but i think that most ppl don't even use the full potential of the m1, so that depends on the usage, although i can only imagine how powerful the new chip's gonna be, which also means that it'll get updated for a longer period of time, but it's really kind of unpredictable when it'll be released, definitely a few months still though. Research the leaks and stuff before buying, and see for yourself whether the updates are worth waiting for you:) (just don't buy before an apple even like so many ppl always do accidentally, thats always just so sadxd) but i think that the current ipad pro is more than enough for most people, especially if you can get it refurbished/used and get a great deal on it

Yes, it is improved but the "elephant in the room" of 64gb storage is still there. 128gb is the sweet spot and makes to Pro the best buy for the money. If they started at 128gb I would have bought it.

I couldn't agree more. So many reviews comparing the Air 5 with the 11" Pro skip this point. An Air 5 with 256GB of storage vs an 11" Pro with 128GB is the place where things get interesting. Other than the extra 128GB of storage and a savings of $50, what does the Air 5 bring to the table? By sacrificing that 128GB of storage and paying the $50 (if you pay full price) you are getting better sound, a better display, better rear cameras and the thunderbolt port. I don't think 64GBs are practical today and definitely not going 5 to 7 years into the future. As a result I don't see how the Air 5 is so well liked at the price point.

Well tbh if it’s all the things u are doing I assume u do then go with air 256gb. For: future proofing (last u 5-6 years) Same experience as pro If u don’t care bout opening ur iPad with finger instead of face. Plus I think how good Face ID is makes more sense on iPhone then iPad

What’s your take on this iPad Air vs the 2020 iPad Pro? I currently own a 2017 10.5 iPad Pro and I’ve been thinking about upgrading it with a 2020 iPad Pro from Apple’s refurbished store. It does still work great for my needs and I already have a M1 MacBook Air. Battery life is not that great anymore but that’s to be expected on a device that I’ve owned for 4 years. A battery replacement might be an option as well and keep it a few more years. That blue iPad Air does look great though.

Hi!! as someone who was in your predicament. I did purchase the air and still currently holding onto my iPad Pro 2017 to see if they are any different. At this moment, I don’t notice much of a performance difference. I usually use notability, Lightroom, and photoshop. All of which works well on both iPads. The speaker quality is a bit different, but that’s not too noticeable. Screen is of course bigger, but tbh, if you’re having battery issues, I would just trade in your iPad for $180 and get a new iPad. If you don’t care for the 64GB storage get the air, if you need larger, get the pro bc the 256GB AIR is almost the same as the pro.

@@Starrdoeseverything Thanks for your input. The 2020 iPad Pro (the one with the A12Z) goes for $609 with 128gb and $689 with 256gb on the Apple refurbished section. My current 10.5 , which was also purchased on the refurbished section, is 256gb but I think I would do ok with 128gb. I mostly use the iPad for web browsing, KZbin and the occasional photo and video edit. My current iPad works great for that, besides the battery life, I have no issues. That’s why I’m considering getting a 2nd gen iPad Pro 11 instead of the either M1 iPads. I don’t need my iPad to be a laptop replacement or anything like that. I’ll definitely keep in mind the trade in option or try to sell as I have the keyboard, pencil and leather sleeve. Again, thanks for your input!
