this is just speculation, but I think Kami's death and Gackt's departure was too heavy a toll on the band. Perhaps they felt MM would never be the same. Or it could be that Klaha had a difference of opinion on where the band should be headed and left?

Also, they been playing togheter for 9 years, so they must be kinda tired of swiming against the stream too.
@cantavanda2 жыл бұрын
I personally think that it could very well be financially related, even though I'm not sure AT ALL. MALICE MIZER was used to huge big-budget productions, that maybe didn't earn back around the end of the Klaha era. Gardenia, Beast of Blood and Garnet weren't high at all on the charts. Bara no Seidou and Beast of Blood were not accessible releases at all, without catchy, or mainstream-oriented tunes. Also, the "Gardenia de l'image" DVD was supposed to be a huge source of income, but something technical happened, they lost the files maybe and couldn't release the DVD, it was cancelled. Gardenia's PV got re-recorded later for the Cardinal DVD even... And Garnet's PV is much more low-budget than Gardenia and Beast of Blood. A bit later, Moi dix Mois' and Közi's solo first albums are generally low budget too, without any PV's, and with lots of automatic instruments opposed to real players (Like the drums in Dix infernal). I think that... IF they had a lot of money left from MM, that these two albums would be much higher in production quality, and maybe with PV's. Of course, the musical quality is high as always, but there seem to be some technical/production limitations. This is just my take on it. But you guys' ideas are possible too: Musical differences or lost of motivation due Kami's death and Gackt's departure and huge success.

YEARS later I return to Malice Mizer to find their symbolism and their concepts to be truthful expressions of the hell that this world has become. It's easy enough to be enamored by the pretty music, but the profundity of their symbols and concepts keeps this music interesting as ever it was. In particular some of the ideas explored during the Klaha era speak of Gnostic and Hermetic wisdom, though much of it it is veiled behind their Gothic motif. I am proud to have all their CDs and most of their videos. There is always a time that comes around which suggests that it's time to revist Malice Mizer.
