Not just the Gackt era but the Tetsu era, and the Klaha era also. Each singer is great in their own way. I feel that Gackt was great when he was with Malice Mizer but not on his own.

What sucks about a lot of the old releases of concerts is that the length was held often short to either fit on a VHS tape or on 1 single-layered DVD (and not have to compress the everloving hell out of the sound and video). It would be so amazing if the missing footage still exists and was properly stored, and we could get a Blu-ray release.

@@rymaix Where have you seen that Midi:Nette doesn't exist anymore? The shopping website is still live and up to date, but I guess it doesn't have much employees, probably just Mana and some manager. I've never seen anything about it shutting down. From what I've heard, we currently can't have access to unreleased footage because of copyright issues, I guess they just doesn't have the right to some specific music anymore, but I can't certify that as it's just hearsay.

KZbin did lower the quality a bit (also surely cantavanda ripped it in a way that lost some quality, but really not that much) After all, it was ported from VhS to dvd... And it's from the middle of the 90's.... It's as good as it's get :/

This band is such a mystery...I mean there seems to be so much content of us that have been filmed but haven't been published (?) Just like the concert at the end...To be honest, the fact that I can't see it is driving me crazy haha But it's not all, there are many strange things about MM concerts. For exemple, some concerts have been mixed together, and it even seems that some part of this concert (or a similar one) have been cut (those during the representation of Ma Cherie). If someone knows more about it, please respond to this comment :) do we have to buy special DVD to see content that isn't on KZbin or has it just never been realised ?

I agree, this band is the biggest mystery ever. People who attended to their concerts were so lucky! Anyway, these are not good news but Mana did Q&A few years ago and someone asked him about old MM footage: ”Q: A few years ago all three original Malice Mizer members shared photos of boxes full of VHS tapes of the band. Is there any chance this sort of old footage will ever be released to the public? A: There is all kinds of rare footage I'd love to show you, but it's not that easy due to copyright problems.” That reply hurts me 😢

In the period Tetsu was the vocalist, the band didn’t drop any dvds or official videos at all, that’s why all videos of Tetsu in Malice Mizer are so low quality.

@@bahe3977 they aren’t performing as nazis lol. they’re performing as imperial japanese soldiers. wwii is viewed a lot differently in japan. in the west we’re taught about the war crimes committed by the japanese during wwii but never those committed by the allies against japan which a lot of the time were worse. if you look up those war crimes in english you won’t find anything but if you look them up in japanese you can find a lot. the usa put laws in place after the war to try not to let that information out but you can still find it. and yet nobody would get angry at american musicians for wearing an american wwii uniform

Yeah, I know this was an alt band from 90s Japan who doesn't even make music anymore.... So I'm not gonna go that deep into political correctness or "cancel culture". However, it's disappointing because I love everything else about this band. And doesn't Mana and Kozi have a background set in the punk scene? I don't know anything about 80-90s Japanese-punk ideology, but I was going to assume that its mostly anti-imperialism and military visuals we're shock factor. Compare it to some nazi imagery seen in the 70s punk sense of Britain or here in the U.S. My personal (unasked for) conclusion is that it's a VERY ignorant piece of shock performance. And it translates horribly from that specific Japanese view to a modern western view.

@@princessai4162 As said above, Asian and Japanese don't have the same view on WWII as us, in Europe or US. I assume this is either a terrible move from them (but knowing the context and the strong feeling of imperialism still existing in Japan) or, as I have always thought, it is a mix of possible provocation and parody of wars in general, with the DIE GAME chorus. It doesn't help that the lyrics are quite chaotic and cryptic, it may have helped understanding their choice.

I would really like to hear gackt version of kioku no sora in decent quality one day. Nevertheless, your remaster seems nice, but what's up with the aspect ratio at the beginning? I suppose it's in the original dvd release but it's quite strange aha

Oh yes, I should have explained it. The beginning of the DVD has 16:9 INSIDE 4:3, so black bars, making the video wider, but tinier. But at the end of Transylvania, in the transition to Uruwashiki, the ratio goes to 4:3 back for the rest of the concert. So instead of making the beginning so tiny in the screen, and cutting to 4:3 for the rest, I cropped the beginning to fit the whole screen (without stretching), and made it transition smoothly to 4:3. If you don't understand it, you can still see the original upload, or any other upload to see how it's on the DVD.
