As a rangers fan I understand this logically, but it hurts. I am impressed by the mancini flip since no one knew his name before prospect camp this year. However, I liked watching a young, promising defenseman who was clearly grinding to get better--a 5th rounder has to work pretty hard to get noticed. I know chytil is incredibly injury-prone, but he was also one of my favorite players. He is so dynamic with the puck and I could see him doing great things. Always thought he had the most potential out of the kid line. Guess we will have to see him and kakko (hopefully) thrive on their new teams.

12:25 The reason they did the deal now is 2fold. 1) Rangers want better their roster to make a push for the playoffs. 2) J.T. Has a FULL no move clause and ONLY team left Miller would waive his NMC for after the Canes got Rant is the Rangers handcuffing the Canucks and Petterson has a no move clause kicking in July 1. So doing the trade now lets the Canucks see if Petey can become the player he used to be with Miller gone and if not, they can move him too before July 1.

Exactly. There's no way to win a trade in a situation like this and given many Rangers fans are disappointed with offloading some promising kids I think Vancouver made out like bandits given the background to all this.

NYR actually gave up MORE than the original trade that fell through. The first deal would’ve allowed them to offload Lindgren, but Rutherford & Allvin somehow convinced NYR to keep Lindgren & give a prospect instead, despite being in a worse position.

Canucks gain cap space a center that they can keep or move and a first that they'll probably move for someone else. Rangers get someone who can help them win now but at best 2-3 good years left. Wait and see what the canucks do what that 1st

JT Miller was a cancer in Vancouver's locker room because he continously challenged the leadership group of the Canucks through out his time there. He was never 'the main guy' on the team but acted like it. I can now see the Rangers giving him the captaincy. It will be his team and Drury will build around him. That is the only way this works out for The Rangers.
