From 45 Cat Top top roots vocals all time wondrous tune....there is a bit of an argument going amongst reggae connoisseurs about who the singer actually is here....clearly it is not Al Campbell's voice, even though it has been credited to him on every form i know of...some say it was Alan Campbell, some say Cal Campbell, and others say Freddy McKay....whatever the truth really is we may never know but surely this foundation tune will be forever tops....the rydim has been used also for Johnny Osbourne's strong vocals "Truths & Rights", and Lone Ranger's "Automatic", and a dub is Kampala Dub on the LP African Rub A Dub...Studio One monster roots.
@trippeltrams89558 ай бұрын
Oh really? Didn't know about that controversy. What would be the reason to justify releasing the single credited to Campbell, or is it just another misprint? I first heard it by Lone Ranger and will always associate it with "Automatic". "Don't play card inna Babylon yard" is good advice
@SixtyTwoEleven8 ай бұрын
I always just thought it was a second singer named Al Campbell and is what I picked up elsewhere. 'Controversy' is a bit strong a word as don't know that anyone ever actually cared as much as that!

I thought it was Johnny Osborne at first but then realised this was very early 70s and Johnny Osborne was late 70s. Listen to the echo chamber.....an exciting sound at the time
