This is just wonderful. You are truly a gifted teacher. How can I , a ( disabled, two cent, too soon ) widow ever thank you. I wish I could give you a big hug for all I have learned from watching even just a few of your videos. Though I do love oils I am trying to learn to paint with acrylics. It has been such a challange, they dry so fast and I end up using twice the amount paint then I would with oils. That makes it frustrating for me. Art, like a garden is my special place to create, heal, grow, produce something of worth for others to enjoy and put a bit in my purse some day I hope. Having to had paint so fast took the enjoyment out of it for me, but Im missing the vibrant array of colors, easier clean up and oderless painting with acrylics. Learning how to slow done the dry time of the paints themselves and not have to use twice as much acrylic vrs oil by being able to make my own gesso is what I needed. Also just everything Ive learned in the video and others that I never knew. Thank you so much Clive. (((Hug ))) . Im throughly enjoying every single video you have here. I look forward to the live painting of the King of the Jungle :) You are truly a good man. Your friends, family, neighbors are blessed to know you in person. I appreciate your presence here on youtube. Its more then a help. Much love from America.

+linda maula you can stick canvas to wood panels that's good I use the caves boards but just for decorative art if I'm painting to last I'll paint on wood panels or good canvas

I've been getting the cheap stretched canvas and washing them before I use them. It takes the coating off they put to keep pests out of the cloth and it stretches it tighter. I used to gesso and fuss over it but haven't for awhile.

Thanks so much for the information. The canvas's that you have made for you are SO nice. It would be a wonder to paint on one. :D Like you said...if one is commissioned to do a painting that would be what you would want to paint on. That makes total sense! I would hate to disappoint someone with a cheap canvas. One day I may get asked to paint for someone. That is a ways off!! lol :D Have a great day or evening.

Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been looking for one of these and you explained it so perfectly. I like using canvas panels, but my question is that how would I frame them on the wall? Do I need to attach metal hangers in the back?

Frame them using old frames from a charity shop

When is a canvas slanted? I have a few where a long side is about 4-5 mm shorter, there are 18×24 inch canvas. I bought the first time in inches instead of cm. Is that considered slanted? Is it noticeable that there are a few mm deviations or is that still within the tolerance limit?

How thick should the gesso be, my bought one a good brand looks a thick to me ,I know I can add water I would use distilled water ,just wondering about the consistency would be best.tfs all the tips about canvases.
@CLIVE5ART8 жыл бұрын
+Maria Kellner it should be like a thick cream you can add water as most gesso these days are latex based

I remember watching my uncle paint as a kid... only I remembered him using a black canvas, the material was actually solid black and had somewhat of a velvety feel to it, is there are reason for this differences between canvas???

I have just done an acrylic pour in a 20 inch round canvas by Fredix. Did it yesterday and today I looked and it has warped. Did I do something wrong
@CLIVE5ART6 жыл бұрын
I do know that a canvas for poring should be tight with a sound of a drum if it’s too slack I guess it could warp

Good video thanks,i am not so good at english, so i want to ask you, if i can prepainted the canvas with normal white acrylic paint? You use some world which i dont understand (for the name of some stuff for prepainted), so i just want to know if there will be the same (or similar) efect if i prepainted canvas with normal paint. (i saw your video about it, but, like i said,my english isn´t perfect) Thank you for advice! And thank for all your videos ;)
@CLIVE5ART8 жыл бұрын
+CrashDown LP you can use normal acrylic paint yes but not recommended you need Gesso to prim canvas it's ok just to paint on the canvas from the shop but the paint will soak in to the surface
@petrkoukal57238 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Gesso was the word which i didn´t understand! :D And i have another question... i don´t understand how long shoud be the wooden stick in place? 4ever? Only when i paint? Or when the canvas is on the wall too? Once again thank you for answer! i learnd from you so many things!

@afnanshora6 жыл бұрын
what if i will paint on unstreched primed canvas, will it work?
@CLIVE5ART6 жыл бұрын
You can if it’s laid flat but most artists use stretched canvas and when dry it can be removed from the stretchers and laid flat to store same can be done with oil paintings then rest-stretched to a new or used stretcher

I'm learning so much from your tutorials! Thank you! When do you need to put the canvas keys? Is this before you start your painting or eventually when your paint starts to wear off?
@CLIVE5ART5 жыл бұрын
Normally before you paint but they can be tapped tight as the canvas stretches with the heat and cold

If I stretch the canvas after the painting is finished will it change the picture?
