Its not really ever about the end result but the story, the journey, the progress, the growth - & that sells better than ice under hot midday sun. Kudos amigos- Lightning comes before Thunder. May your light so shine before you ever consider sounding your trumpet- Come on You Clavers✊🏽 Lots of Respect, Admiration. Just Splendid

I'm glad that Julian responded to your inquiry. I'm subbed to him as well. Thank you for this alternative way of using the staples. I haven't had to stretch my own canvas yet, but now I know what my options are.

You’re most welcome, Bernadette, and yes :) it’s always nice to have access to people with more experience than you. Can’t recommend his work enough.

Some insight from one creative to another . Have you used vinyl matt or gesso
@ClaversOdhiambo Жыл бұрын
Yes I used vinyl matt on a couple of paintings 8 years ago, but when I had to roll them the dried (matt) primer cracked all over and destroyed both paintings 😆 learnt the hard way. I’ve never used gesso mainly because silk vinyl does it’s job just as well if not better, is way more accessible (and affordable) and mixes with acrylic paint so I can kill two birds with one stone when I buy it.

Good morning, Clavers! Great information about the nails and thumb tacks, how to leave spaces between the staples, and how the Canva will deteriorate. I never thought about that, and I have been painting for years (not like you though 😂). 😊🎨🖌️

You’re welcome, Sharon, I’ve learnt most of this info on the job as well so…it’s the way for all of us lol (Ps: Even on the stretched canvas at 1:16 you can see how the staples are nearly cutting the cloth.)

thank you for your upload ,very educative.id like to inquire what the name of the particular canvas is and where i can be able to purchase it

In Nairobi you’ll find it either at Rivatex East Africa, Biashara Street or Tile & Carpet Centre, Lavington. It’s simply ‘canvas’; they’ll know it.

You don’t always need to cut the canvas, due to it’s weave you can just rip it 😎
@ClaversOdhiambo Жыл бұрын
You can rip it along the warp but not along the weft (or vice-versa depending on the orientation) so either way you’ll need scissors for one of the sides. Ripping it is also risky, labour-intensive and a little too carefree. Scissors give you precise control.

Hahaha ofcourse you won't confuse it with your wall😂
