Having fine hair, I would never brush my hair like that. I mainly use combs. These people have never had a problem with their hair, that is why they abuse it. If I brushed my hair like that, it would cause breakage and I don't have enough hair to risk that.

The problem with DIY projects such as this one is that the end result is completely different than what she had in mind. Imagine going to a salon asking for blonde highlights, but walking out with chestnut brown. And while the chestnut brown looks good on her as well, the amount of bleaching (a.k.a. damage) done was more than necessary.

You did peripherally convince me that while I am in a financially difficult time, I will NOT color/bleach/highlight, and probably not EVEN tone my hair at home:) last coloring of any kind was 2019, then, Nov. 2021, "baby lights" that were a bit more than I wanted. SO, she toned it last, it was REALLY nice, but I don't have the money for salon treatments, I will treat it well, use purple shampoo occasionally, and see if it finally starts turning silver;) I'm a 60 y.o. level 8 ash blonde.

For some reason, Sally's customers don't seem to read labels. That Wella "toner" says on the label it's "Permanent Toner", which is why its instructions say use 20 vol. I guess Wella assumes hairdressers aren't going to bleach clients' hair light enough for actual toner to work? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It would probably actually be cheaper to buy a few natural-looking wigs in different colors and styles for your different moods, lol. Some of those are really cute and not so expensive. I'm older and have no desire to color my hair at this point or wear a wig but in the past did have a few wigs that were really cute, and I got a lot of compliments on them. You could buy a dark colored wig in a bob style, etc. Why risk destroying your hair? But I get it, when we're young we make snap decisions that can be bad or just plain dumb. These days, I'm happy to find a new lipstick and nail polish, and I'm good with that simple change, lol.

THANK YOU HERR (sorry Hair) Buddah I Have learned something What?????........ When my hair grows out Instead of going 2 a Hairdresser every month or 2 I JUST do my roots I've been doing this 4 yrs After doing this NO more than twice, I always change the shade each month, I go from Ash 2 beige etc (BECAUSE I have SO Much red in my hair naturally + I don't like the copper look) So when I go 2 a Hairdresser It's gives it a nice mix for streaks! I Never Realized that I was doing something Named SHADOW ROOTS!!! I Never

He’s right. If u want to change your color so much, buy a wig. You can buy human hair wigs for under $100. And if u want, dye it. But leave your own hair alone! It’s very dangerous to dye your hair so much. I stopped dying my hair 8 yrs ago . Why? Because I got cancer from all the bleaching and hair dying. I’m not gonna get into how I survived and my battle. Just trust me, stop all this dying your hair. Another very important thing to confess, I didn’t even know I had cancer. I felt fine, but was dying. IF I didn’t go to my Dr for something else and he didn’t find my cancer, I was told in a few years I would have died. Dyeing your hair is not worth dying for……

Why NOT go to a salon. I have been "poor" a few times in my early life-I STILL made the salon a priority. Your hair is like clothing, only MORE beautiful. It's so weird that these ladies have no self respect regarding theirn"crowns". Sure, go black at home, but then to do highlights is SO dangerous. I loved my pixie cuts, so I'm all for a hair fail, followed by a cut, for our victims here.

Oh lord I remember those days of dying my hair to get it just the right chestnut brown and trying to highlight to get some color texture, and rarely ever succeeding. I wish I had had your videos back then. I could have done much better. My hair is 95% naturally silver now, and those days are gone. I love this look so, no more dye. Still love learning about all the things I did wrong!!
