@@khanmagne5124 Obsidian is great... or so I thought before I found Capacities! Obsidian has too many plugins and too many different ways to splice them together for it to be useful for me, personally. I love how Capacities is the perfect balance of structured and open-ended. It works the same way my mind does too. =)

Hi - A suggestion. I'm a Believer and love Capacities. I love the content that Reflect is creating which is focused on the method and good practices more than the tool itself (although there is plenty on how to use the tool.) I'd love to see more of this from Capacities, where the content is more about the technology. Thanks.

I discovered Capacities at random, looking for a good way to organize my notes. Notion is good for collaborative work or creating a wiki. I used Obsidian a long time, but I found myself spending more time setting things up with the plugins then anything else. Checked many others too. But this one, first impression, I'm liking it. It feels that you guys really deeply thought about the UX. There are some things that need to be worked out, like keyboard shortcuts so you can do everything without a mouse-but it's a solid start.

Hi Beth, I'm working out capacities. On first flance, it seems like the perfect combination of free-flow and structure that my brain needs. I am confused however, why for example if I create a meeting, and in the properties on the left it asks me "people involved", these people do not seem to link back to the object "people". This defeats the purpose as I still have to write "person x" "y" and "z" in a meeting. I might be wrong though. Could you explain further?
@CapacitiesHQ
@CapacitiesHQ Ай бұрын
If you write @{person's name} in the property, you'll create a link to their object.

I'm really surprised that this video is linked in the Getting Started portion of Capacities when you first open it. This is so rushed and the screen in bouncing around so fast that it's nearly impossible to follow. I'm a Notion user and assumed it would be relatively familiar process getting started in Capaciities. But, honestly, this just makes me want to quit before I start. It's completely overwhelming and utterly confusing. I'll try to find some 3rd party video to see if there's a better way to understand. But I'm more intimidated now than I was before I watched this.

Hi Beth, on the video I noticed ypu have object types called "Countries" and also "Locations". I'm interested how do you use these. Is every location within a country? Also, in your course, you mentioned that soon Capacities would enable the feature to import a csv file into it, thus allowing us to import all of the countries in one fell swoop. Do you have any idea when that might be enabled?
@CapacitiesHQ
@CapacitiesHQ 11 ай бұрын
Hi, yes every location is in a country (it's a select property between the location and country object types). CSV is being re-built and it will come back with the bulk import, but we don't have a specific timeline for this at this point. Keep a look out for our announcements!

Interesting and very compelled to move my Notion over to Capacities. Capacities appears to value what I need as an individual, for my knowledge management needs, as opposed to a Collaborative Company Wiki/Portal that I really need a template or consultant to "dashboard" for me. Do I have that assessment right? Is Capacities really trying to make the individual knowledge worker a priority?

@@CapacitiesHQ Hey - I know Capacities is building out Task Management. Wondering what specifically is planned for that. I am an avid Todoist user and often times what happens when a PKMS start moving into Task Management, the intention by the product is to have the user deleverage existing task management tools in favor of the new offering. I would hate to see that the interplay between Todoist and Capacities gets set aside for what's coming.

A very confusing aspect about Capcities are Basic Objects vs Created Objects. From my understanding creating our own objects will not give the full functionality of a basic object. Furthermore certain basic objects are essentially just properties. Best example being tags. Tags is shown as an object but it essentially a property that is a giant pool. When I saw Location I thought you could create a separate pool just for location, but from what I can see you can not. It will either be pooled under the basic object Pages or Tags. This is extremely confusing because that means not all objects operate the same despite being called "objects". Furthermore Daily Notes object can't be used as a property. Weblink isn't a property but will auto populate based on the text property. So created objects realistically operate exactly like linking Notion Pages with no way to do independent tagging or creating your own property from what I can see. A different name would leviate the confusion. Correct me if I am wrong of course.
@CapacitiesHQ
@CapacitiesHQ 10 ай бұрын
Hi, I think there is some confusion here so I'd like to help clear it up. There are differences between basic and custom content types, but there is a lot of flexibility in using them. With custom content types, you can create your own properties. You can also use dates as a property and they automatically link to your daily note. Could you send some screenshots of your set up to team@capacities.io and let me know what you're trying to achieve, so we can find a solution for you?

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *💡 Os três pilares fundamentais do Capacities* - Capacidades é fundamentado em três pilares principais: networked note-taking, object-based note-taking e time-based note-taking. Do you like people stealing your stuff? This is not a funsy project somebody is making for themselves. Quite ignorant and unrespectful comment. Of course you don't need to buy it or use it or even like it, but saying "THEY ASK MONEYYY" sounds very juvenile, it's their work. Of course, your opinion matters, to you, and you may be stupid, and that's my opinion. Its an ignorancefest, void of understanding and empathy. This is why I downvoted your comment straight away. I'm not a fan, probably not gonna use it, I am just making my own similar thing and I am here to steal ideas and watch what makes people tick/not. But this tick of paying money, well I just won't be sad in letting the likes of you go, IF I even get to the point of having other people use it.

@@ahsookee Why do you defend bad user experience? I am definitely willing to pay for good software. But marketing the software as free and then putting core features behind a paywall is a miserable user experience. Either it costs money from the beginning or you let a user test the features. However, a free app that lacks essential functions is totally useless.

Wow, this is a terrible video for a company that is involved in knowledge management. The host is talking and talking while the mouse is doing completely unrelated stuff. It's distracting. Why not put the lady full screen with just keypoint about what she is talking about, then move on to examples. I am baffled by why companies try to save money on things like this.
