I lived in Mass for 38 yrs, 2 of those years in Hyannis and took the ferry to Nantucket twice but never got to see the island. I am glad I am following your vacation to them both. I have been in FL 12 yrs now and wish I could move back, I miss New England!

I love this! My parents were not into traveling at all and we never took a trip. When I was a kid, I thought a 30 minute drive to a nearby town was a real road trip. Luckily my husband had traveled all over the country and fully approves of all of my travel plans. I love traveling with my kids! We will be road tripping to Yellowstone from Kansas in July and August. Traveling is definitely one of the best gifts we can give our kids!

I haven’t been to Nantucket since my daughter was 9. Now she is 19 🥹 We will be on Cape Cod for a week in July however! Love seeing your family on beautiful New England vacations! You are a master packer I have to say!

Oh, how I miss road trips from days gone by, with my kids when they were young.... mind you... we still do holiday with our now, young adult kids... start 'em when they are young...as now, it is still normal for them to come along with us on trips...ages 24,25, 28!

It's a beautiful island yet I haven't been there since 1992! I'm overdue for sure. Mr. Rogers owned a home on Nantucket at one time. I'm so happy that you can enjoy this with your family and create special memories.

I live on Nantucket year round, it's an amazing place. There is a lot for kids to do as well. I would suggest renting a jeep and going up to the great point light house and spending the day on the beach there. There are usually seals and other wildlife, it's just an overall good time.

I live on Nantucket. Go to Siasconset and walk the "Sconset Bluff Walk." It is spectacular! It feels like a nature walk with a footpath overlooking the ocean high up on a bluff, and the view in the other direction is spectacular historic summer homes. They allow the public to walk the Bluff Walk thru their property, so please be respectful and stay on the footpath. At one end of the Bluff Walk is the village of Siasconset (nicknamed 'Sconset) with a tiny general store, great ice cream, and a little cafe. The other end of the footpath ends near Sankaty Lighthouse, which you will want to visit. If you take a bus from downtown Nantucket, it's the last stop on the Sconset(or Siasconset) bus. Have fun!

One of my favorite spots on earth. I dreamt of going there since I read the book as a 5th grader “Nightbirds on Nantucket” that has a thrilling ending that takes place there. Finally made it when was 60. Been twice now and worth the wait- it was spectacular.

It seems you like these old world towns. Recently we visited my sister in law in North Carolina and went to New Bern. We visited the Birthplace of Pepsi-Cola there. The town is beautiful and has an old world feel. We also went to Beaufort and took a ferry to Shackleford Banks to see wild horses. I highly recommend visiting these places or just driving along the coastline of North Carolina. So much to see and do. One thing I would like to see when we go back is Sand Dollar Island where you can take a ferry during low tide and pick up Sand Dollar shells. There are basically so many beaches and islands there that you can find large seashells. It's such a beautiful place and hope you and your family can visit there. I do have videos posted if you're interested of our trip there.

Yes they have on and off site parking for the ferry, and a shuttle to and from the off site, which we did. We stayed at the Boat Basin Cottages 💙
