Done ✅ . My husband and I were choosing between Costa Rica or OBX for spring break with our son... and then this video popped up. As much as I would love to explore a new part of Costa in Santa Teresa (don’t want to deal with all the testing to get back into the country now). Anyways this vlog proved that the back up plan is just as good. We can drive from Florida, use our camper or just keep it simple in the 4Runner on the beach and we will be so grateful we finally made it! Been on our list of travels for a bit. Now pray for waves on those dates lol. Thanks for making such a great video. I’m so pumped now.

Yeah see we have wanted to go for so so long. Some of the local surfers head there when the reports are great but we haven’t been able to swing it due to the kids school schedules. We are hoping we luck out anyway like you say. They love fishing so that’s always a bonus too! Thanks for the feedback you are boosting my excitement to plan this trip. BTW, I don’t even surf but I tend to check out videos from surf vloggers and I have to say Brett you’re one of the elite. I love the music, style, authenticity, and how much you rep the East Coast. As a ‘Cape Codder’ turned Floridian (over two decades ago lol) your videos make me fall in love with N.C. Coastline- because it reminds me of the natural beauty of Cape Cod mixed with the rustic charm of some of the beaches here in Florida. Last year we hit the slopes of Beech mountain, and the kids have done camps in Flat Rock. I’m just really diggin NC more and more each time we visit. I want property for a change of scenery and pace to visit (our small beach town is becoming a city ) in the western part, but the husband has to be able to surf and fish as often as possible so who knows. Anyways your videos are all part of the research and enjoyment of this whole process so thanks again. ahhh can’t wait to be there...

Hi Brett, amazing videos as always! I would love to ask you what fin size do you recommend for barrelling. Ones M size that slide a little bit on the wall or a L sizes ones that stick on the wall?

whatever you ride normally... there's no need to change fin sizes for tubes, or big waves. stepping up in fin size for smaller waves helps though. and obviously different fin designs... but I ride Mediums from waist high to 20ft

depends... sometimes water is in the mid 40s, sometimes it's upper 50s. it fluctuates a ton here. in the latest wetsuit gear, it's rare you are cold except when checking the surf haha. or changing.

Nah... I mean, they’re all my friends for 1, and there’s not a ton of us who live/surf here. there’s also been crowds of out of town surfers here every well forecasted swell for a long time. This place has been on the radar of East coast surfers for forever. And the forecasts are mostly too fickle to warrant flying in for swells... cause there are so many variables at play. I mean even the swell in this video was overhyped on the forecasts in my opinion, and it still wasn’t that crowded because it wasn’t enough for guys to drive from long distances, and there’s only so many surfers in the nearby area. There’s TONS of days that there’s just empty peaks everywhere, cause it was I forecasted (even I don’t always know) and no ones around. The boys here score all they want, and even if there is a crowd on certain days, they get their waves anyway so it’s whatever. It’s very rare you can’t go find fun waves alone...

the report has not been flat for the past 2 weeks... there's been small, but fun, waves most every day. and looking into the future there's plenty of opportunity for some surf over the next week. Not sure you're arrival date, but dont pay much attention to any forecasts more than 3-5 days ahead of time... and even at 1-2ft, there are often spots producing waist-stomach waves.

@@danhartery6930 drive up and down hwy 12 and stop along the road randomly and you’ll stumble upon a really good sandbar all to yourself. even when everywhere seems flat there’s always a good wave somewhere. good luck on your trip!
