Cape Lookout - Camping, Fishing and Roadkill Sharks!

A few windy days spent at Cape Lookout National Seashore in North Carolina.
The views were amazing, the fishing was great and the food was goooooooooood. This trip definitely raised the bar.
We got to see a shark with tire marks in it (roadkill) and the remains of a dolphin! It was such a surreal experience on the miles of pristine and uninhabited seashore.

Where was y'all at on Cape Lookout island was that the North End none of that look familiar to me but we didn't ever go all way up to the North end we went down to the South End twice last year in 2020 first time we had ever been there it was awesome loved it we're going back this year at the end of August or first part of September

We were more on the northern end closer to Portsmouth Island for the most part but we moved around a lot. I was really bummed we couldn’t drive to the abandoned town…I think I’ll bring kayaks next time. The inlets on both sides are stunning though, especially at low tide when we went and fished. I found a bunch of whole shells on the southern end. I’m glad you enjoyed it as well, I can’t wait to go back. It is truly a special place. Hope you enjoy your return.

is it open camping? Or how did you get to camp on the beach?

Completely open camping. Minor fee with the National Park service but it’s very minimal. No fires outside of the tide line, and no camping on the dunes but otherwise, the island is yours to explore and camp where you wish. Miles of open seashore. There are ferries that can take you to Cape Lookout and Portsmouth Islands.

@@BlueLineAdventures sweet! I got vacation set in May, for Cape also. Love the fishing there! I try going at least once a year 😆

@@Vang_Cutz truly some of the best fishing I’ve ever had. Those inlets between the islands are nonstop action at low tide. Enjoy your vacation! Such a great place. I’d love to also make that an annual thing.
