Cape Solander Surf Report - VERY HEAVY with a chance of showers and drowning (24 May 2020)

The surf report for 24 May at Cape Solander was grim. Heavy conditions and 30 knot winds kept many bodyboarders and surfers in their vehicles watching from the car park. Cape was dominated by S ground swell which made for a lot of wash-throughs and ugly sets. But this session made for a great mind surf though! How many of these waves did you make *in your mind*?
PS: In my mind I already drowned by the 5 second mark.
PSS: I would have liked to make this a raw vid, but the howling winds made the audio distorted and completely unusable. Will aim for clean and natural ocean sounds next time :)

Bodyboarding / surfing waves on reefs, in remote locations around Australia and Bali. I love both novelty and big waves! With everything that's going on in the world right now, there's nothing like getting into some waves and surf to take us away from it all. Self-isolation in some deep barrels is a valid way of social distancing!
I love exploring new waves in new locations and I love bring my viewers along my journey. Sometimes it get's sketchy as some of the waves I surf (shallow reefs, dry reefs, deep ocean slabs) get pretty gnarly. If this kind of content sounds interesting to you -- please drop a like on the video and subscribe so you are among the first to see my new vids!

Nice. Got myself some heavy slabs on Saturday at a local reef just outside of Newcastle. It’s one of the only reefs I don’t think you’ve visited yet and it pumps.

@@WillyPOV1 Glad you weren't out there getting mixed too! Yeah it's been big here in SE Qld too, the whitewater looks like it reaches 20 feet sometimes, it's a huge sandy shorebreak out the back at low-tide, crazy...

I surfed it like that but a foot smaller. Fuck that place!! I almost died. Unless you're a pro surfer and get paid to surf it's not worth the risk. It's way way heavier than it looks. Hitting the bottom wasn't the problem for me it was getting off the bottom. I pulled my board into me two times whilst getting roller along the bottom and not getting up. I could get my hand out but not my head. I'm a decent surfer and I greatly underestimated it. Leave it to the pros or those with a death wish. I have surfed it about 10 times and got injured about 5. I have hardly been injured my whole surfing carrier and have surfed waves three times that size. Fuck that!!!!!
