Cape West Coast Ep 1 - Klawer to Richtersveld, Groenrivier Namaqua SANPARKS - Diesel Tech

We take the more scenic road less traveled from Cape Town to Richtersveld National Park, scenic being up West from Koekenaap until you hit the ocean, then turn North and follow the coastline for as long as we could via Namaqua National Park, part of the SANPARKS organization in South Africa.
Day 2 we drove through Kleinsee on route to Port Nolloth where we topped up on fire wood & fuel for the Hilux after which we headed to Potjiespram Campsite on the Orange River.

Thank you for posting and sharing your experience with us. I’m gonna be honest, you don’t need all the music that you put between the scenes and commentary. It’s become very cliche. However the intro music was awesome. The analog synth sound used in that recording is just beautiful.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it. The music fill in bits is necessary to eliminate things like excessive wind noise on the microphone, or unwanted camera noises due to shaking & handling maneuvers etc. The commentary is mainly to get travel info across to the viewers whom might plan taking a trip themselves on the same route or region in the future. Is takes effort to find a good balance between everything in the end.

I am doing a wild camping trip in oktober from Hondeklipbaai to Koekenaap. How does it work for camping next to the ocean once out of the Namakwa National park to the south? We want to travel a few days nex to te coast and finish at Koekenaap.I heard there ae alot of farms that yu need to go throu. d the lock the gates some times?

Hi Aileen, I'm not 100% sure regarding the camping spots around Hondeklipbaai. I do know however that the area has mining concessions which might require permits to either drive through or might be completed blocked off from public access. You might stumble upon a locked gate or two yes, it happens. That is why we simply followed the coastal SANPARKS route & followed the national gravel roads from Namaqua Park to Port Nolloth & there after Lekkersing towards Richtersveld. (To avoid locked gates & U-turn situations.) Your safest beat would be to scout on Tracks 4 Afirca maps & info regarding the route or area you would like to visit. Alternatively you can revert to groups on FB relating to West Coast or Wild Camping folks for past experience. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip in October, should be great weather wise.

Dankie Rene, ja ons ry gewoonlik met so 1.6bar op grond paaie, gemiddeld van 70 tot 90 kmph is n gemaklike spoed. Die pad vanaf Alexanderbaai vir so 10km is net ekstra sleg teenoor die res van die pad.
