The one I’m using mate the most was a daiwa steez A and a dobyns champion HP 744 with the full handle.

Epic fishing and the most amazing thing is that most, if not all, of those monster female barras went free to breed more of them, unlike those commercial fishermen that operate in the Gulf, rapping and pillaging everything with their gill nets; good job lads.

Thanks mate, yes we always fish catch and release when it comes to Barra. Would much rather eat a threadfin salmon. With a bit of luck maybe one day we will see a change to the netting in the gulf. 🍻

what a place, and what a mission. Must be an unreal amount of food there in that small channel for all the big barras to be lining up like that. Bet it felt good to get out and walk on the shore, though, after a couple of days walking a metre to the front of the boat, and back again!! Do you mind explaining the successful lures? That grey prawn softbait you were tying on in the second vid was about the only visual of any terminal tackle, and not one I recognise. Cheers.

Thanks mate, was definitely a trip to remember that’s for sure. Always nice to walk on solid ground again. The lures we had to use were of a smaller size and something that could hold in high current. Small patterns worked best. Used all sorts from paddle tails to prawns but they had to be small. The grey prawn you seen was a gulp 4” prawn. Hope that helps!! 🍻
