We did the Tele in 2013 and Nolan’s was about a foot deeper by the looks and Log Bridge was sketchy as with logs moving

Hi guys that Gunshot & Nolan's can be heart breaking have seen lots of carnage there over the years. Hopefully Percy will survive, electrical issues starters, alternators sensors on friends 4x4 were a on going problem. Changing diff& transmission oils is a good idea. Great content...safe travels.

Just curious as to why you didn’t already have a snatch strap attached to a vehicle in front driving at the same speed? Being in 2 wheel drive you’d think it would be a no brainer… unlucky! How long did it take to dry out the car??

We planned on doing this but after doing Logan’s the long deep on before thought I might be alright, only took 2 days to dry it out! Lucky got some 37 degree days

In 2013 I drowned a one month old 200 series with 5000km on the clock on the tele, didnt cut the trip short just ignored all the lights on the dash for the next month and put another 5000 on the clock before the insurance job was don, 35 odd k of wiring loom lol

Well said Keelan. Knockers are easy to find mate. Most hide behind a keyboard and have never actually done anything in the real world. I took the step of installing an I-Tech 120x under bonnet on my 200 series 12 months ago after plenty of research. I did do a small heat shield. It’s been on a NT trip running consecutive 10/12 hour days hot as hell with no problems thus far. I’ve done full discharge test again after doing one when new and have found no difference. It must be said that the 120x only has 105 usable amps not 120- a well known fact. In hindsight and for anyone looking to buy don’t go past the 120x Pro. Same foot print but discharge test at almost 130 amp hours and only 100 bucks more than the 120x. Only thing mate just make sure you stick with the facts. Your old Prado N70 size wet cell deep cycle is a maximum weight of 25 kegs not 40 and the replacement didn’t seem to spend time submerged at Nolan’s Brook. She can be a killer alright. Enjoy your videos guys. Keep up the good work.

I gotnto raise my hand and say I've swamped my fourby before on fraser island at awinya Creek. I got it running again but not for long. had to get my mates to tow me back across the island to camp in the dark with no power at all. i had an ozito spot light strapped to my bullbar to see the snatch rope. next day I had to get towed off the island. it took a week or so every day drying out and cleaning every connection I could find. finally she fired back up and it's still going today nearly 2 years after.

You’d be pretty worried if you are crossing that cable tie bridge and have an unusual heavy vehicle haha. Tracks look reasonable but hard to judge by a video as I know it hides the true depth to tracks. Watching a bunch of cape stuff atm as we have every intention to take our Adventras to cape next year with a couple support 4wds in case - should be very interesting. Looks like amazing fun! Too bad on the Prado but hopefully everyone dries out clear some codes and she comes good.

Experience is a hard teacher. It gives the test first and the lesson afterwards. What you could have done is hook your snatch strap up to one of the other vehicles before entering the crossing and have them quickly tow you through. I'm also wondering why no one in your group used a blind?

I don't no why people don't have the snatch already hooked up to both vehicle's and let the tow vehicle just pull you through Nolan's especially when you only have 2wd🤷‍♂️

@@SarahandKeelanTravels you still could of drove it with both vehicle's hooked up just get someone to pull the snatch by hand as you drive it then if you do get stuck the tow vehicle can pull you out straight away instead of wasting 20sec hooking up snatch and flooding your pride n joy that's tip for next time maybe 😉

Did you try left foot braking after the T/C stopped working? It can really help when you're without axle lockers or traction control, more as a preventive to getting stuck than a remedy though. Good fun :)

May i just say that had you not had an ITech battery under the hood you may well have been stuffed , Given that Lithium give you almost 100% were as Lead acid dont

We drained that thing to nothing with no alternator! It gave up on us eventually, jumped it from dead flat about 20 plus times I would say.

Curious how you figure you're in 2WD. Toyota Prado has Standard constant 4WD, via open centre diff. Even if you'd not engage the Centre diff lock you'd have 4WD. Surely you'd engaged the centre diff lock though driving Tele Track. If so, you're in 4WD, the front and rear drive shafts are engaged. ESP (Electronic Stability Control) being faulty cannot disable Mechanical Drive to the wheels, it can only decelerate the throttle response or brake wheels to stabilise the Prado, it still has 4WD. Only thing you'd be without due to a front wheel sensor failure is brake control via the Traction Control feature, even so you still have 4WD irrespective of a sensor failure. Don't fathom your claim of 2WD !!

No your right but like I explained once we lift wheels which is every 3 seconds on the Tele track only 2 wheels had drive because the ESP wasn’t working and the rear LSD needs to be reshimmed

@@SarahandKeelanTravels okay, but that puts you in the same playing field as most 4WDs of our past. I led a convoy along the tele track featuring Jackaroo, Terracan, Patrol, Cruiser 100 series & hiluxs. Not one had traction control or diff locks. Jackaroo & Patrol both had good LSD, but all successfully crossed Nolan's unassisted without issue. Good god, that stock std Terracan surprised the hell out of everyone on route. It was wheeled by a 68 year old whom was experiencing his very first 4WD trip ever. He got the bug so bad he returned to Sydney and traded straight up into a 200 series. We also did the Frenchman's. Recall getting to the Pascoe and 4 guys in lifted locked Patrols laughing, that'll never get across, he'll have to go back. Well old mate had the last laugh wheeling the Terracan across totally unassisted, but he ended up crossed up ascending the exit and required a snatch to avoid side step or sill damage. By the time we'd completed the snatch the Patrols had disappeared, no comment from one of them, haha 😁😂🤣.

Prado 150 don't have any LSD diffs, they rely on the traction control system, if you had no traction control due to a fault and lifted a wheel on the front or rear axle with the centre diff locked, you will end up one wheel drive, lift a wheel on the front and rear and you end up no wheel drive, same thing in soft sand, you don't need to lift wheels just have the power spin the wheels with least/lowest traction. Older 4x4 are typically non independent front suspension (live axle) will go further due to better articulation and even having LSD on the rear will help like non traction control Prado 120 had.

Great question mate! If you want to just go to the tip of australia just take the PDR which is a road that’s gravel all the way up! No water or crazy offroad stuff. The Tele track is just off the PDR and is a loop road. If your on the Tele track some points you can go out to the highway and skip passed hectic obstacles but this year there wasn’t many times you could turn around and not do things!!
