Great shows guys. We don’t have the 4x4 culture in in the uk. Your show is great fun and really shows off Australia’s countryside really well. You are all obviously having great fun, it really shows in the films. As an ex chef love the cooking bit too. Keep it up! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

We filmed the same trip with quads. Once in a life time trip for our team to experience. The journey needs to be approved by the local rangers. Good footage fellas, I wouldn't be too keen to try with cars. There's heaps of soft sand along the way.

Gezz, just read some comments from others - harsh. Sure, Roothy is a legend and I have meet and chatted with him - true blue. I have also met Graham and Shaun and neither seemed to be wankers to me :-) - I would be happy to be called a wanker if I got to do the shit these guys do - LOL Disappointing to see some comments - of course, there are other support vehicles and I guess they could hire a chopper to fly in a lift a vehicle out of the bog if needed LOL. But lets put this in perspective, the risks taken were and are real. Having an extra support vehs doesnt mean a veh wont get stuck and flooded under a a tide that rises at a flow of a rising river and no-one can take away the expertise these guys need to do such an epic trip. I assume some are much like me - absolutely bloody jealous of the trip ;-). I would give a left nut to go on such a trip. Come on guys - this was an epic trip, something I could only dream of doing and something I would not have seen if Shaun, Graeme and team did not attempt. Loved it guys - keep up the work.

Mike Williams agreed. There is one channel that I can’t remember the name of, who bogged a vehicle due to the camera crew wanting a different angle and shot. The tow vehicle couldn’t pull him out and were slowly running out of time. The rush then caused the tow vehicle to actually roll. By the time they got the first vehicle out, salt water HD risen half way up the door and the sand had super glued it into the ground. Thankfully, they made it out. Other vehicles, even with a chopper, may not have been so lucky. It’s tough enough to pull your leg out of the swampy sand that this shit is, let alone 2ton of steal.

Maybe someone can shed some light on why they always seem to use low range as opposed to high range in these conditions? Manual trans? Diesel? Here in the states we seem to use low range for really slow going and high range for sloppier conditions that require higher wheel speed.
@gwebster6600
@gwebster6600 6 жыл бұрын
Jon Phipps These are pretty old tec diesel engine vehicles with not that much power. So in soft sand you need all the torque you can get from the engine, so it's a high gear low range and keep the revs up. We don't have many big powerful V8 4x4s in Australia.

It still would have been a good video without all the manufactured drama. I mean, jeez, we already knew the camera crew drove ahead across the "dangerous" stuff. Include them in the videos! Did like it when Graham jumped on the croc! Great scenery.
