Las lanchas más rápidas del océano

La estrategia para capturar atunes acompañados de delfines es rodear a los cetáceos con las cinco o seis lanchas rápidas del barco nodriza. Mientras tanto, el cerquero despliega el esquife, que arrastra la enorme red que envuelve en forma circular a todos los delfines en la superficie y los atunes en el fondo. Ni los cetáceos saltan desde la línea de flotadores fuera de la red, ni los atunes se sumergen más de cien metros… en la mayoría de los casos. Entonces, para liberar a los delfines, el capitán hace retroceder el barco, esta maniobra dobla la red en forma de elipsis. Luego, en el extremo de la punta, varias lanchas rápidas hunden una parte del borde superior para liberar únicamente a los cetáceos.
Cada vez que el cerquero tenga que pescar atunes asociados a delfines deberá repetir esta maniobra. Además, el observador debía documentar todos los pasos, el tiempo y especialmente la mortalidad de los delfines. Otra tarea es registrar avistamientos de megafauna como tortugas marinas, ballenas y diferentes especies de otros delfines. A veces, cuando pasan semanas sin pescar, los tripulantes se enojan. Para ellos jornadas más cortas, llenar el barco es más dinero en menos tiempo.
La operación de cargar los atunes al barco es otro trabajo peligroso, a veces el hilo de cabrestante de la red puede romperse lastimando a los hombres, o partiéndolos por la mitad… Yo siempre me mantengo alejado de esta máquina.

I can guarantee without a doubt that boat isn't nowhere near the "fastest boat" you're going maybe 60 mph a big maybe and it looks like a 150 - 250 2stroke Yamaha, best you'll get is 75 to 100 mph.

Statement below is correct. Due to the rough conditions ocean boating always seems faster that actual speed. That is a very small monohull with an outboard engine. My best guess is maybe 35-ish. To really get it on, you'll need a much larger hull. Check out "Off Shore Racing". +-100...:)
