Ends up losing the fight, whatever. 5.1 he says some things, saves Xilonen twice, argues with Mavuika and “oh my gosh!!! you’re right!!” 5.2 he says some things for 5 minutes and leaves 5.3 says 20 lines and… dies lol. Capitano probably has less than 100 voice lines. When you think about it, this whole arc was made to promote Mavuika and make people pull for her. Mavuika beats Capitano -> Capitano realizes Mavuika’s plan -> Capitano glazes Mavuika -> Capitano takes Mavuika’s place

I mean Capitano technically isn't "dead". Ronova said that the curse of Immortality must stand no matter what, so he's still "alive" in a sense. That's why he's playability is now in a weird state of limbo: will Hoyo bring him back later? in the same or different body? I personally don't think they will. I doubt he's going to be playable. But my point is: he's much less dead than Signora and his chances of playability are significantly higher. I don't think we should compare the two just yet

Uhm...... ya that's not how that works. He got death but that's it. He got no afterlife this was forced. Ronova didn't remove the curse of immortality. Besically he is fused with the night kingdom and the lord of the night. His soul is dispersed not moved on. He infact can wake up again but that's not good news cause his connection with the land keeps it stable at the cost of his being "dead". But it's not permanent but a constant. If the hp decide to mess with that connection it can be ruined

Remember this. Throughout the Natlan Archon quest, Capitano already wished death for the longest time of existing, although he's already dead by flesh. His heart holding the souls that can't enter the Night Kingdom is the one pumping through his own existence, and by exchanging his immortality to the death approaching on the Lord of the Night, he reached his goal. To those who are still clinging the playable Capitano delusion, this is the last nail to poke on your mind. As of this game applies, and by all the reasons reserved, a dead character has no reason to be playable, and it happened. 😐

This might be a somewhat controversial opinion...but I think the Captain needed to die here. Or at least, is in a state where he is no longer able to interfere with anything in the plot. He was the First of the Fatui Harbingers, and shown to be capable of dueling an Archon to a near standstill. He is a good and honorable man who would never approve of what some of his fellow Harbingers may be up to in the shadows - looking at you, Dottore. I think the Captain needs to be out of the way so we aren't wondering why he's not stopping whatever is about to happen next. Because he probably could stop it if he wanted to. But now, he cannot, and that might be what emboldens some less than savory characters to REALLY begin their next moves. Putting aside any debates about his possible status as a player character in the future, I think that this death is going to have quite a few consequences in the upcoming story arcs.
