Thank you for showing the technique of holding and squeezing the calf and not the heel. I have tried it this way and it works so much better and is more comfortable for baby. No one showed me this technique! They all would squeeze the heel or foot. Thanks again!

Nurse practitioners are the best. Please explain how you did the blanket wrap to keep other foot away ?Also the lip on the purple top tubes ,can u explain its use?

The blanket wrap is a standard baby wrap with just the one leg out. The actual technique is difficult to describe without a visual. The purpose is so that the infant does not kick with the other leg and inadvertently spill the sample. The lip on the purple top tubes are to aide in the collection of blood. It acts like a funnel decreasing the amount of blood lost to spillage.

Is he saying the heel warmer is for "basal dilatation" or "vasodilatation?" Also, what's the difference between dilatation and dilation?
@bauervapors6 жыл бұрын
vasodilatation is the terminology being used. dilation and dilatation are similar and are frequently used interchangeably. dilation is the action or condition of becoming or being made wider, larger, or more open. dilatation the action of dilating a vessel or opening or the process of becoming dilated.
