This is by far brilliant I myself have thought of using angola in self defense techniques dont care what they say, they are some things Ive never thought of, again I say brilliant job!!

I am impressed, 1st, that you want to give our youth real power, using African martial arts as a vehicle. I'm also impressed that u seek to apply Capoeria for what it was meant to be - self defense, not this sick, dance crap that has been emphasized, for the benefit of others, still a throwback from the days when it was outlawed in Brazil. I know a few Capoeristas and am proud to know what they represent & your tube really sheds light to its reality for our people. Peace & keep up the good work.

Im afraid Mestre Baruti is not the person you describe in atlanta, however the condition of our people and the war machine set to destroy us is a common topic of discussion for us, and serves as one of the main motivations we have for training as hard as we do. This is also why we have a burning passion to teach the black youth especially, and black people in general. Knowledge of self and others is the most effective weapon in this battle. Peace.
@worldworks15 жыл бұрын
that's great you are showing capoeira techniques that a lady I talked to who practices MMA describes similar techniques with the footwork you just demonstrated. She has also by accident figured out another form of capoeira that incorporates rolling and somersaulting. It even saved me from a crip gang member trying to sucker punch. I did the Capoeira mule kick and then executed a forward/backward rolling combo and then tried to shoot for a takedown but my attacker got away.

Peace Soulblackman. We do know Chicago. We think Chicago is a very important figure on the current scene, as he is one of the most accomplished angoleiros that Grand Mestre Grande has ever produced in the states. We see Chicago as a noted and worthy ally in our daily struggle to preserve, and promote the art. Chicago reminds me of my own teacher Metsre Baruti in the sense that he has a passion for teaching the art to black youth.

Peace God. Great great great video!!..your droppin real science right there. People need to distinguish ô jogo de capoeira and a luta de capoeira..or capoeira in self-defense. There's more than one use of capoeira, and you need to learn to use these in contextual fashion. Nuff Respect.

This is the essential science of Capoeira.

@ ATACXGYM You have hit the nail on the head, every martial art has merrit and worth, the question is how does the practitioner aplly the science. Just as a hammer and nail are useful for a carpenter, these same tools are usless for the baker. I must agree with any martial artist / fighter who knows the true value of humility. Take what is useful for you, appy it as needed. I can only hope more martil artist take your approach of keeping an open mind, as good technique is universal. Peace

We thank you all for your open minded aproach or veiw of this art form. Metsre Baruti has always taught us " If you cant defend yourself in the street with it, then it is not a martial art." I am afraid I do not know who produced the cd that you hear, it belonged to host of the event.

@neterkeht1 I have used and continue to use capoeira while sparring,and have become awed by its tremendous power,deviousness,speed,deceptiveness street-savvy guile and explosivity. Hardcore bareknuckle practitioners make regular use of capoeira moves in their tourneys (see kyukushinkai tourneys here on youtube). The au martelo and various rolling,flipping and cartwheel attacks are all the province of capeoira,along with the deceptive kicks (like "The Brazilian Kick").
@egontokessy161010 жыл бұрын
That's amazing. I suspected as much that you didn't have to dance and you could just do the moves.
@minatonamakazi3 жыл бұрын
But yes...it is possible to "dance" while fighting an opponent trying to kill you, dance WITH your opponent, NOT AGAINST, look into korean taekkyon, I started with afro capoeira then went there 😶 now even though japanese taido is appearing to plagiarize capoeira a bit, the japanese have a way of making everything Ninja...which...y'know what... because ninja shit...on behalf of the black community imma let japan get a slide on taido...now yasuke...they did us dirty...🤣

Thank you for your feed back. i do want to be clear that the sequence is not meant to be a fixed set. The exercise sequence is simply used to train the mechanics of the various movements escapes or counters. They can be arranged in any order that is needed according the situation you are in. Sweeps, elbows, knees or kicks are all tools to be used and have been proven effective over the years both in the roda and on the street. I hope that clears up purpose of this drill for you.

The first thing that you learn (if you fight and spar like I do) is that capoeira is the undisputed king of movement,and that there is no movement which is alien to capoeira,but capoeira has a plethora of movements that can be found nowhere else.And daily that plethora of movements grow as fighting capoeiristas expand our vocabulary of movement.I hold a 5th dan in kenpo karate and several other disciplines,as well as years of training MT,judo,wrestling,etc.Capoeira works and I'll put up video

@neterkeht1 Holla at em,brah.This ya boi Head Coach Ras from the ATACX GYM .I train capoeira (with Mestre Roque from Salvador Bahia) .I fight and coach Muay Thai,wrestling,Kenpo and boxing,tang soo do taekwondo,hapkido,gungfu,kenpo karate,and more.Capoeira when trained progressively and combatively is without a doubt is the KING OF MOVEMENT,and movement is the fountain of all technique.It's not by accident that the best fighter in the world,Anderson Silva,does capoeira and bedazzles peeps
@minatonamakazi3 жыл бұрын
I see the secret 🤣, the techniques only work in a capoeira situation, but it's pressure point aimed to make the body go into HIGHLY capoeira familiar positions 🧐 10/10, I've never thought about making the opponent do different esquiva 🥶

@neterkeht1 I wholeheartedly concur with your assessment.Capoeira is very useful in street encounters not only because capoeira was used highly successfully to repel multiple whip club sword and gun weilding assailants at the same time who outnumbered the capoeiristas,had dogs horses and more,for centuries.The Portuguese documented the successful resistance of capoeiristas for CENTURIES.Race hating slavers wouldn't credit those they hate most with repelling them unless it was inescapably true.
@neterkeht114 жыл бұрын
@ Maocapoeira. Are you suggesting that capoeira cant be used in the street? Perhaps the Capoeira you practice has no value in the street, to each his own. I personally know plenty of great fighters that train Capoeira that will disagree with your idea about the value of the art as it pertains to street defense. Elbow, head, and knees are commonly used weapons in Capoeira, and most martial artist will tell you that these weapons are very effective in street defense.

Great reply, bruh. BTW, there are many African arts still done at home. Check out brother Patrick Gorham's site and youtube channel: Africawrites. The art of the Yokia comes to mind. There is also that of the Kadiang society of the Lunda, and the warriors who do the warrior duel and dance called Ngoubo, of the Kako speaking peopples of C.A.R., all from brotha Patrick's site. Keep it coming, my brotha!

@ Maocapoeira, you are a funny guy. This clip was filmed at a university in st louis mo, not in the projects. We were invited to teach there. Where are you invited to teach? You make personal insults by claiming im not a "real caopeirista", calling me an idoit, & saying my jogo is garbage. There is no jogo in this clip. I have been training this art since 1988, where were you in 1988? I notice you dont have anything posted on your site. Weak! put up or shut up bra, your getting boring

@ Maocapoeira. What exactly is meant by "capoeira wannabe"? Are you curious about my personal history in this art or just arrogant and full of hate? I understand that not many people have tried to explain how capoeira techniques can be applied in the street, but perhaps you have a lack of understanding about the art of capoeira and its history or various techniques contained in the art. Educate yourself in these areas then you may have an informed opinion.

Nope, that is a misconception posited by Luso-Brazilians who wish to belatedly claim it, just whites in the states belatedly claim rock an' roll after initially denouncing it as "jungle music," etc. How ironic! lol!

@ Maocaoeira. Bra seriously, I have posted video, with my name and face, you hide behind a code name on the internet talking crap from miles away. Truly laughable. This cyber thug, keyboard gangster thing you do is pathetic. You said this art wasnt useful in the street & you were wrong. I dont sell any "black martial art b.s" as you call it. However the root of the art is in Africa, so it is a black / african martial art, again you are wrong.
