Verdi's eventual abandonment of solita forma for the sake of the drama might be one of the best things to happen to opera. His manipulation of the main theme, its continual erosion and perversion throughout the aria, and its withering echoing Iago's wretched soul, and the sudden major tonality of Iago's outcry in the face of Heaven itself is a masterpiece. Cappuccilli's performance is beautiful and wonderful. Thank you for sharing this!
