As a Delawarian Cappy briefly mentioning Delaware, because of Wilmington, then forgetting about it describes my state pretty well.

You got Ohio pretty much spot on. The people are good, down-to-earth people (outside the cities). Living on the lake is nice when it's not winter. Anybody who has anything interesting to say is usually talking about a trip they took outside of Ohio. There are a couple cool things to see here, but not nearly enough to justify the state and local taxes. And unfortunately, almost every normie-conformie person in Ohio has their identity completely wrapped up in a sports team.

Some of the best museums I’ve been to are in Ohio. Museum of the United States Air Force, ( Dayton) Rock N Roll HOF ( Cleveland) and the pro football HOF ( Canton )

As a representative for Kentucky, there are those people who screw around and just want to talk all the time. They're usually the the ones working restaurants and just general service jobs in these parts. Them and the druggies are the ones at restaurants. Anyway, there's also folks like myself, I've been called "rail thin" as I'm pretty skinny, but damn can I work. _hard work, too_ I've done a hell of a lot in my life already, and hiking has always been favorite of mine. Some of this country is unbelievably beautiful. Just wanted to stick a little bit of better representation out there

Forgot to mention just how willing most people I have met are to give you a hand. Run out of gas? Someone will drive you to a gas station since their gas can is empty (this has happened) tractor broke down, and need someone to bushhog your fields so they don't overgrow? Someone Will help you and bushhog for you, or lend you their tractor (has also happened) give you logs for firewood that they were gonna sell for lumber (happened) folks here tend to be vastly generous, almost all I have gotten to meet. Except for your 40-50 year olds for whatever reason are almost horrible here. Maybe 60% of them suck. But the good ones among them are great among greats

Cappy giving New Jersey a positive review *falls on the floor* I’ll say one thing as a long time resident of this state, it’s a little better then the New England states at least, and the long time New Jerseyans can be really good people, but this state is being over run by New Yorkers and politically it’s getting more blue and wants to mimic NY state(sort of) I can not recommend people coming here anymore, housing shortage and taxes here are insanely high don’t waste your money here. Very urban anyway and kinda boring…. Lucky to be next to PA and trips to NE states can be nice when the weather is good but this state is just boring it’s a blue over priced suburb basically.

I’m in NJ it might as well be a borough of New York City, can you blame people for leaving here? Highest taxes and housing cost went up 30-40% locals here got priced out. This happens anywhere California New York or Boston money goes. Personally I’ll tell anyone to leave northeast and most of the east coast not worth it.

The city of Lexington, KY is one of my favorite cities to spend a lot of time in. But all of the small towns east to the Maryland border or south to the Tennessee border are exactly as Cappy described. Also agree with his assessment of the Carolinas and SE Georgia. I live in Cincinnati, grew up west of Cleveland. Both good places to live, but absolutely no reason to visit unless you have family here.

You,may be a little off base,sir. Ohio is full of stuff but you have to plan. 7 of the biggest anime shows in the country. Big comic/sci-fi/horror conventions. Plenty of comic shops. 3rd in the nation in drive-ins. Arnold Fitness Expo. Tons of toy shows. Lots of cool concerts. And we pay $800 a month for rent on a 2 bedroom house and our electric bill is about $45. If they could get free parking to most of the area in Columbus,they might have something...
@itsnick373 ай бұрын
How long until Columbus becomes unaffordable and becomes overwhelmingly blue….. it’ll happen give it time. Taxes in Ohio will suck once the cost goes up to much look up what happened in Cincinnati.

What do you think of the coastal urban cities of .....CA? Serious question; I know everybody hates us. I grew up here, so maybe my perspective is skewed. I am fortunate to have traveled the country and world for business. But it seems plausible that the phrase "The fruits and nuts" ended up in CA my be true (I hate to generalize like that) It seems that when I interact with people...I always really need to be ready for an irrational response. Here is an example, but you could 10X the irrationality around here. There is a Kitchen/Bath appliance showroom/installation company with F250 trucks each with trailer hitches behind the apt. complex I own I catch them red handed with the trailer hitch punched through my back fence. So I talk to the owner, and ask them to repair the fence, and not do it again (they had been denying for over 5 years) Instead, he raises his voice and tells me that my tenants are jumping the fence and stealing stuff Yeah right, I have an Associate Professor, a petite school teacher etc. as tenants. So I tell him, show me your security photos, and he backs down and changes the subject. I consider this an irrational, arrogant, I am superior to you response (I am stereotyping CA people as this) Where as if this occurred in Ohio (where my HQ used to be) I think they would say: "Hey neighbor, no problem. I'm awfully sorry, and will ask my truck drivers not to this this" Then he would change the subject "Hey, nice lawn you got there, neighbor" Do you agree with my assessment of CA behavior vs. Midwest behavior?

What do the good places to live have to be so GD hot?🥵 Yuck. When it’s hot all the time everything feels grimy and dirty.
@itsnick373 ай бұрын
Humidity isn’t healthy when it’s hot for long stretches, I think dry heat is ok if you stay out of the sun or keep yourself shaded or covered up(sun is getting hotter every year I think due to atmosphere changes but that’s just my guess) I would take southwest states over anywhere else but if you want to pick best states for cost or politics I would go Midwest or more west then that but not west coast of course. I think Cappy picked a really good place I just hate winters or I would go out that way somewhere.

twin cites mn sucks, duluth mn sucks, fargo sucks also compared to the rest of nd...No surprise that the urbanite complains about all the boring rural slow driver(we have kamikaze deer and have to look at the fields🤪) . The whole goal of rural is to get the urbanites out as fast as we can because it is annoying to hear them whine we don't have star bucks and how come they smell manure when they are a mile away from a barn...basically every whinny, big gov, lazy person moves to southern MN and every northern MN takes the -30 to keep all urbanites away.

I lived in WY until a fat female judge demanded I be a juror in a week long jury trial. I explained to her that I run a tech business and had obligations on a $2M project. She insisted, so I pretended to be an anti police liberal to get out of it. Then two days later I left the state. On the drive out the radio was talking about how poor the county was. Gee I wonder why... 😂

Representing Kansas. It is a nice state. I’m in the northeast where all the people live (outside of Wichita.) Small towns in the central and west can be a little methy, but nothing too bad. NE Kansas is one of the best kept secrets in the country. Can still buy a totally decent house for 100k-250k depending on how much sq footage you need.
@itsnick373 ай бұрын
In in the northeast and might have to consider anywhere from Iowa-South Dakota at this point, southern states mostly suck and same with coastal I’ll take Boring Midwest or plains to escape high cost and taxes and liberals…..

Kansas but not in Kansas City, best answer I got. I think both Dakotas are pretty good if you are ok with winter, although Kansas winters sucks as well I think…. I thought the south was better for a bit but seems to be going up in cost to much to be worth it, plus lot of south states are poor and have to much welfare going on….I think Midwest and “mountain west” or plains states are best options. Besides what I said already Iowa and Nebraska seem to be best value states out of my research even if Iowa leans left I think it’s still pretty conservative state overall.

Salt Lake City is a lot like what Cappy describes Minnesota as. The virtue signaling of the non Mormon population has reached a tipping point.
@itsnick373 ай бұрын
Mostly liberals or miserable ex mos ruining the state, weird politics there very unique, Mormons had the right idea of a lifestyle I think but all religions are wrong of course…. You can’t stop people from moving there and once the “infestation” took over SLC it’s over… same happened to Denver and LA and San Diego and Seattle and Phoenix….. still think Utah is one of my favorite states but having what 90% of everything from SLC-Provo isn’t a good idea you can’t escape it there :( have to hope enough good people move there and can start a new culture and keep it conservative, SLC will always be blue but state overall is red and much better then Minnesota or anywhere coastal.
