@@HHung-pg3iw The difference between Bolt and Tyson in '09 wasn't the 1-2m you saw. It was the difference of their accumulated efforts over the distance. So if Tyson (9.71) wanted to catch Bolt (9.58), he would need to be faster over the whole distance and not just "catch up to those 2m", or "start faster". What matters is your rate of acceleration, that is how much you accelerate to the running phase, your maintenance, and how little you decelerate towards the line. A better start for Tyson here just means he gets into position sooner. Which may or not impact his overall run (since he expended more energy) which is what matters.

Tyson has began his season with a 9.86 and is consistently getting good starts. While Usain began his season at 10.0 something. The world championships should be exciting.

@moonwalker5800: your numbers are wrong. usain bolt was already a sub 20 runner back in 2004 (before he had turned 18) and the other numbers are incorrect too.

@PowerSprinter I think wind is a pretty big factor even though +2.0 is within the legal limits. I agree that Gay hasn't ran his perfect race yet, along with Powell. I'm pretty sure Bolt hasn't either IMO, I think he'll lower his WR's in Daegu next year and if not, then he probably will at the Olympics. Did u see Carter's 9.78 today?
@CheManiange11 жыл бұрын
I feel sorry for him. Why did he have to test positive? He's such a great and humble athlete and opponent.

With a perfect start this guy could have gotten the 9.58, just look how much he lost in the first 30 meters
@phastman14 жыл бұрын
@jahfet1 Theres nothing wrong with the clock, notice theres a 2.0m/s tailwind?, apparently this is actually only a 9.79 with adjusted wind (to 0.0m/s), Gay just recently tied the best race of his life this year in London (9.78 with -0.4m/s = 9.76) with his 9.71 in Berlin with a +0.9m/s tailwind which is also a 9.76 with adjusted wind. Nothing wrong with the time though.
@KDGx9138 жыл бұрын
Kinda makes you think... if Gay had a better start.. Would he have broken the record? He obviously won't do it now. but still.
@KDGx9138 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Khoo Even still.That time would be impressive. If you noticed how in the background they were all screaming "Gay! Gay!!" Because they thought he at least had some kind of chance. If he had a better start and was at peak condition. I'm telling you. his time would be way better than this.
@KDGx9138 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Khoo Maybe your right. Maybe we have to wait for the next generation of people for this record to be broken
@Hengel_Andrews8 жыл бұрын
Top speed has a limit of around 10m if he was a faster starter he'd be a faster decelerater. Sprinters either hit that top speed early (fast at the beginning) or hit that top speed late (closer to the end) never both.
@KDGx9138 жыл бұрын
+Hengel Andrews You have a good point. However. Let's just say someone was born with certain traits that allowed them to do this. would they be the fastest alive?
@Hengel_Andrews8 жыл бұрын
HrobrineTheLegend Flo Jo was like that, she held top speed for 30+ meters. Yes they definitely would be fastest alive, even if they had a slower top speed than people they ran with.

Can't wait to see what Gay does at the Olympics this year. If he can stave off injury after the last couple years of running REALLY fast, I think he could so do some serious damage. Looks to be exciting this year--Bolt, Gay, Powell, Johan Blake. The fastest guys in the world right now, unless I'm forgetting someone. These cats are also being pretty consistent, from what I've seen...

i have question for you Torrepr DO you think that tyson gay can hold the world record in both 100m and 200m at the same time? it is always possible for any top athlete to beat each other but there is always something special about the best. If tyson gay beat bolt one day it does not mean tyson is a better athlete

No meu forno levou 50 minutos. (Nesta receita não vale o palito, para ver se está cozido ou não. Pois o mesmo sai sempre húmido, pois o bolo é muito (húmido). O que vale é a vossa experiência...

@torrepr I'm pretty sure Bolt's earliest confirmed race this season is his 100m in Rome against Powell on May 26th and Gay's suppose to be joining Wariner in a 4x400m at the Texas relays on April 9th. chances are we won't see any Bolt vs Gay till the world champs though, like in 09.

Do you know that Asafa has a pb in 200 at 19.90 done in 06.This tells me he has the potential to do really well if he trians for it,that's why I agree with his coach that he was a bit lazy,and him not running the 200 can actually be part of the reason for his failings on the big stage.if you look from 04,he's always beaten by guys that also run the 200 in wc and olympic finals,he always just seem to lose it or run out of gas.

Boxdrinks, I'm a master's trained RN and I worked a few year's on an orthopedic floor. Groin injuries can run the gammut from a very mild strain to a very serious muscle tear. The usual treatment for strains are anything from from resting to . surgery. Tyson appears to have had sustained a severe secondary muscle strain to his hamstring injury that never fully healed. This is an injury that is very common for sprinters and other athletes, like soccer players, who over-utilize their fast-...

This should have been the fastest or 2nd fastest 100m time ever. His start was so awful with a decent start he runs a 9.57 or faster but than again if Bolt doesnt throw away 30m in the Olympics he prolly runs a 9.5 flat lol. I think Gays last 50m is the fastest a human has ever run on earth tho.

RAS09true, Tyson hasn't embellished about anything. He underwent successful groin surgery yesterday in Philadelphia and he should be able to resume training in about 5 to 6 weeks. The injury prevented him from accelerating more aggressively in his drive phrase. Bolt is number one, for now, no question; but to truly measure the depth of his performances are predicated on how healthy Gay & Powell are as I see that they are the only ones capable of beating him. Next season, bring it on...!
