@@jennyoyster5054 An extended technique that really isn't practical for clarinet and isn't used in any of the typical repertoire you will see. You may need it here and there, but it's rare.

@@troysmithfr funny, it's used in my wind ensemble all the time because we never play easy music(it's a high school). Our pieces are Cyrus the great, Salvation is created, El Camino Real , High Wire(we're the only high school to play it). All except salvation use double tonguing in way or another

@@troysmithfr i switched instruments (well yes but actually no) I played regular Clarinet and there was so much tonguing throughout all, then i had to learn bass clarinet part cause we needed another , and there was still so much tonguing. But at least not that many runs :)

Wow wow wow! 0:35 THIS type of careful and even controlled "rolling-rounded-individualistic-charcuterie-audible-color" playing with such clear consistency of the entire piece is quite remarkable! I don't think you can even say all virtuosoists are able to include that (of this range of resolution of course) with their expected skills. That is some dedication of easily years and years to get the fingers, keys, mental focus, and motor skills to all line up like it's 2012 with our planets all lined up! I guess I can say "Damnnnn, this is out of this world!!!" 👽🎶

pniiice that's what makes this soooo goddamn impressive. Most pro players of that caliber do use extremely minimal motions, but he's soo good at what he does that it doesn't matter, he's beyond the point where base techniques matter

His fingers do raise pretty high but not high enough that it actually affect his technique, in fact allowing your fingers to lift a little can help you get through runs more cleanly
