This is great!! Here in California these bag beds can be placed outside. The outside temperatures in the winter are not a problem. However, we do have hot temperatures during one month of the summer. I’m placing my order for some bags.

I started this up again last week. The worms absolutely love the stuff. I took a break since it was hard to find locally but the giant bags are available again! My cat and dog are so happy too!!! Do you feed them anything else in addition to the wheatgrass pad, other than maybe a sprinkle of chow on top when you first put it in? I saw you do that a long time ago. Just wondering if a pad is enough to feed them for a couple weeks if you need to leave them or just get too busy to mess with them. Obviously the moisture would be another issue all together if they were left for a couple weeks, but food wise, is it enough?

I thought the totes were for casting, but it’s full of worms. Would you be collecting the worms once the tote is full ?

He did another video about how he set these up and how he removes the worms. He doesn’t sift since the purpose of this was to make loads of castings in the bags and have them ready to sell. If i remember correctly he baits them out and collects as many as he can. When he sells the who bag there will be some in the bag but the majority are removed to start a new bag. Love the idea of having them work in they bags they are sold in.

Are there springtails in your worm bins? If so, do they cause any problems?

I’d love to have springtails in my bins but so far I’ve only seen pot worms. Both are great helpers breaking down the materials and they won’t eat enough to compete with worms unless they’re numbers are too high, mites too.

@@ultimavermicompost oh yes! That’s where I draw the line, if it leaves the bin it dies (except worms they go back!). I’ve been fighting fungus gnats for months. Just when I think they are gone they appear again. Although I found the area they’ve been hiding in so they won’t live for long! Muahaha! Yes, springtails, pot worms, mites and even millipedes are fine.
