You can see the moment Shran realizes Archer went to the trouble of finding out a way to end it without killing him while also respecting his traditions and how happy it makes him even with the lack of antenna movement
@reedallen4613 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. And while it was apparent (at least to me) that Archer and Shran had a growing mutual respect for each other, Shran's respect for Archer increases DRASTICALLY in this scene when he realizes just how much Archer TRULY respected Shran and his people's customs/traditions. Just my opinion anyway.

The show was getting better but its ratings were still dropping. It's been pointed out that by the time of ENT, there had been 14 years of constant star trek, including the concurrent running of DS9 and Voyager, as well as movies. Even if the show didn't have a rough start, it was likely to struggle simply due to there being too much trek. Movies were fine, which is why nutrek was successful, but people weren't ready to sit through weekly tv episodes. All good things, as they say Of course, one of the advantages of streaming is that shows don't need to compete for a network slot. As long as a show is successful, it doesn't need to be the _most_ successful show to keep being produced. So we're not likely to see this happen as often now
@scorchogrey2385 Жыл бұрын
@@naverilllang I don’t disagree with the Star Trek fatigue theory at all. That def played a factor. But I actually think MORE trek would have pushed back on the fatigue IF another series had played featuring the universe, we had been following, forward. The narrative moving forward would have pushed back the fatigue IMO, but the fatigue was too much for a prequel. IMO ENT would have flourished had there been more trek illustrating the other timeline forward. But who knows?
@GladDestronger Жыл бұрын
Well, the ratings in season 3 weren't too great and 4 were even worse. If the show doesn't make mega-ratings the network gives 'em the ax (though plenty of shows were cancelled for bullshit reasons despite huge ratings).

As I recall, the Tellerite Captain was the one who caused this by murdering Shran's XO in a scuffle he provoked. He really shouldn't be giving advice or even speaking. In Archer's place, I'd be sorely tempted to tell him "You shut up! Your the whole reason we're in this mess. You couldn't keep your mouth shut or your hate boner in your fucking pants and you murdered someone on my ship in a scuffle you provoked. By all rights you should be the one fighting to the death. You're lucky I need your support or I'd have let Shran have his way with you out of respect for him and his culture who've done vastly more to earn my friendship and my tolerance than you have."
