I saw Beefheart in Va. in January '71 and it at least started identically, with the ray-gun, "Ronnie Raygun", the drum duet, and then blowing everyone's minds. Possibly best show I've ever seen. Had to be the tightest.

He's certainly been around. FZ, Beefheart, giving the name to Little Feat etc. Such a wonderful guy, bless his memory. Met him in 1981, was such a nice guy, a master of human cool. You would just hug him! Highly missed.

Trout mask replica is probably the most influential album of alltime, bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Red Hot Chili peppers, Nirvana and the entire alternative rock scene owe their ass to Captain beefheart and Frank zappa.

I saw CB & His Magic Band in Detroit several times in the 1970s, always as an opening act. Each time, the Detroit crowd seemed to like him better than the famous headliner. Twice, the headlining act was so disappointing in comparison that the audience began leaving. One time this happened with Ted Nugent another time with The Kinks. (Although this was mostly because Ray Davies was stupidly drunk onstage.)

I saw him on the Doc at the Radar Station or was is Ice Cream Tour? Dammit!!!! The Main Reason i signed my own goddam band to Virgin coz I hoped to hook up with he whod influenced my twisted gtar, but it never happened! And, i paid my ticket for that show!!!!!!! Zero Regrets! Sending my Mother to Woolworths to buy me Shiny Beast (an Import) for my birthday was funny!!!!! My Classmates (Fire Engines) eventually opened for him later down the line though I never witnessed it!
