Spotlight Kid is very unappreciated imho. Not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. Alice In Blunderland in particular is sublime.

Totally agree, Click Clack, as well, and I fucking love Glider. simple yet powerful and elegiac. Also some of the best live performances are of the Spotlight Kid songs.

Yeah, just search Beefheart Bataclan concert. There's basically the whole thing on here. Great version of Dirty Blue Gene and has, uhm, A Carrot Is As Close As A Rabbit Gets To A Diamond, I think?--well, one of the solo guitar pieces, anyway.

EDIT: The BEBFV audio on this is from the album with the concert footage (dunno where that's from, sorry) over it. But you should check out the French concert, if you haven't. It's with the Bat Chain Puller/Doc band (basically).

Boy I can't believe the great John French has contracted Teleleftearphonatitus. and speaking of "Phoning it in" firstly to Mr. English accented professional journalnerd- Elliot Ingber's solo on "Alice..." is NOT a slide solo and to those who think Ted Templeman was the genius foil to Beefheart on Clear Spot go directly to track #3 - Too Much Time to hear the painful and probably most obvious attempt to garner the great Captain some radio time.
