I wrote a fan letter to Tom Hanks about this movie. That one scene when he was with the paramedics after it was all over and he was safe. I told him that that scene hit me super hard in the theatre, because that’s how I felt after the Aurora Colorado Century 16 theatre shooting happened. (Even if he was just acting.) I also told him I was in Theatre 8 where the bullets went through the wall. And I lost a friend next door in theatre 9. Unsure if he received that letter or not, but you can’t blame me for writing to him either.

I don’t know if anyone has had a gun shot go off in a small enclosed space, but it’s brutal. I accidentally discharged a .45 caliber wheel gun once in a garage. I couldn’t hear anything for about 3 hours except for extreme ringing of both ears. I was already a little hard of hearing before this, I’m sure this didn’t help. If that gun went off in real life like it did in the movie in that little red boat, nobody would’ve been able to hear virtually anything for a long period of time. Not even hear what was being said over the walkie talkie. It would’ve been more believable if this were portrayed in a realistic manner🙂

Because he correctly assumed the Navy had snipers aiming at the boat and wanted to make sure that they knew where he was so he wouldn't be mistaken for a target. The navy game him an orange T-shirt to wear for the same reason. They wanted to make sure he would stand out when the shooting started.

@Kuma first of all it would be borrow, not rent. materials from the library are free, unless you keep past return date. it's actually not unusual at all, even in 2022. there are many movies, documentaries, shows, etc... not on streaming, and as far as i know the dvd extras / bonuses are never on streaming even if the film is. one of my friends works for the library system, most metro areas have several libraries under one umbrella so to speak, and we were just talking about how popular dvds still are. literally thousands of dvds are borrowed and put on hold weekly in this one major metro area alone. if the library one normally goes to does not have something one wants, it can be requested and shipped from another library in the system. plus you get free views on Kanopy and Hoopla with a library card, free Rosetta Stone access, etc.... the list of benefits is quite long. libraries are a good mix of old school and new school. i highly recommend checking out (no pun intended) your local library system and getting a library card
