I especially like the accordion insert and the flip-out with the sea green lattice trim. Your books are such a treat for the eyes. Lots to see! Thank you.

I know exactly what you mean about the 1800s book pages... the texture, acidity. I have a set of 1800s med school biology books I inherited from a family member. I don’t know that I could use pages in a journal due to the content. Somehow I ended up with the amputation editions. It looks more like a serial killers guide to dismemberment. Too bad though, I love running my fingers over the smooth somewhat glossy pages. The color and smell...everything about them I love. I would love to get my fingers on an antique nautical book. Being from Kansas, the ocean is something that exists only in my dreams. I especially love the beautiful intricate wooden sail ships of the past. Something about the pride they put into their art of carving the wood, the engineering...all of it. Even when I imagine the 1800s ocean full of sail ships and pirate ships... I picture it in a different color. 🤷♀️ weird. Anyway, I love how beautiful this journal is. I especially love the images of ships you chose. Stunning as always.

Btw I also struggled tremendously printing on vellum but I discovered that to do it easily you just spray a little 3M repositionable spray mount onto plain printer paper and stick the vellum to it - then you just print as normal - game changer honestly!

Maddie!!!!!! What an amazingly gorgeous journal. You always put so much work into your journals and this is no exception. We are so alike as I love anything ‘mini’ and all the hidden tucks and pockets etc. And I had to laugh when you said you were hiding in the closet to do your voiceover so your husband couldn’t hear you. I too refuse to film while my partner is around to hear me. How funny! You have outdone yourself. I love everything about this journal. Xx

Paper Inspirations awww!! Thank you Sue!! I just now saw your reply! Yeah, I can't record with him nearby because he will tease me to no end and will undoubtedly try to find a way to be heard on my KZbin videos in regards to "smudging!!" Lol. And I'm already shy as it is!! Ah well, lol. Such is life. Thank you for the compliments. They mean a lot to me! I'm putting the finishing touches to your renaissance/medieval style journal and truly hope that you'll love it as I know it will be the first of its kind in your collection!! I know it's not something you'd typically go for, so I hope to not disappoint especially since I'll be adding elements that I know you'd like into it without detracting from the theme. So I'm taking extra care with yours, 🥰🥰

Thank you Tina!!!! I'm glad you liked it. I realized after I posted up the video, that I had forgotten to add the captain's written journaling pieces that I cut out from one of the nautical books. I ended up adhering the "captain's log" bits throughout the book before mailing it to the lovely lady that purchased it. Can't have a captain's log without the log, lol!!

Wow! I know this is an old vid, but I must say how beautiful it is! Your style is very similar to mine so I’m especially enamored by this! FYI... I’m like you w the telescope charms as well. I have a handful of movable prayer wheel charms. I ordered then from Etsy for a Buddha journal I made for a friend. Although Im not Buddhist...I fell in love w the charms... which I now hoard and have difficulty giving away. 😂 And DAMN!! The BEAUTIFUL images of vintage sail ships literally made my heart skip. (I’m a dork) Your laughter thru the video had me rolling. You’re goofy, too. I had fun watching. At 19:04- Th gold trim you purchased from Michaels, Did you cut it to make it look like a sea horse...or is that me hallucinating? 😂 It sure looks like an abstract sea horse! Ok... I could let my special brand of adhd take over and post a novel, so I shall go! Glorious book!!!

😍😍😍thank you!!! I still miss it because I love it so much!!!!! 😂😂 I realized before I gave it to the recipient that I'd forgotten to add the "captain's log" bits throughout the book. I had a pile of written cutouts from a captain's diary that I'd planned on gluing to certain pages. I'm glad I caught my slight before I mailed it to her. I just wished I could have done it before recording this video. Can't have a captain's log without his diary!! 😂

I love my Epson printer, but yes, Vellum does present a problem. I wondered if there is a sensor to detect when paper is loaded and ready and so it doesn't 'see' vellum ? Then I found that I have similar problems with tracing paper. Sticking the transparancy with double sided tape to a sheet of plain paper helped - BUT ONLY WITH SOME BRANDS OF VELLUM, not all ! Vellum Jim, but not as we know it . . . .

Gurk Meja aww Ditte!! I’m reading this at work and you’ve made me so happy!!! What a wonderful way to start my work day!! Thank you!! The only thing I left out of the video was the actual “captain’s log/writing” bit. They were actual journal entries from a sea captain book to which I had cut certain excerpts out and would then paste them to random pages in that journal. It was one of my favorite journals to make.

Your captain book is so beautiful and so creative! It has captured my interest and if you hadn't sold it I would have bought this! I am now trying to make my own, notice I said trying lol.... it will never be as good as yours but im going to try hard. You mentioned some of the images are from Public Domain but I can't find that company on etsy. I found Tina's beautiful things also I found the book you talked about on Amazon. Also if ok to ask where did you get your front cover image it's beautiful. I can't say enough about how wonderful your journal is. Thank you for sharing and inspiring! 💙
@craftylore84174 жыл бұрын
Your book will be ten times better than mine, I just know it!!! It will be beautiful!! I would love to see your work because I know it will be gorgeous!!! If you have an email, I can try to email you the cut file that I used for the front piece. It took a while to clean it up in photoshop and make it ready for my Cricut Maker. I spent many hours making that die cut. I think I still have it somewhere. I use card stock that had almost a glossy sheen to it and I used metallic paint for the edges. The images on the inside of the front piece, I found on Etsy and thank you for mentioning it because I entirely forgot to add the link to the bio which I did as soon as I saw your comment, so this is the Etsy link for those images to the die cut: www.etsy.com/listing/219923150/nautical-scrapbook-paper-nautical?ga_search_query=nautical&ref=shop_items_search_5&crt=1. Some of the "public domain" images come from Wikimedia Commons. It's a site where you can find a lot of vintage and antique images that are copyright free to use. The other images come from the Graphic's Fairy. I have their premium membership but they also have a lot of free public domain images that you can download from their site thegraphicsfairy.com/ I hope this helps and thank you for your encouraging thoughts on my work!! Take care and stay safe!!!

You are SO sweet to get back to me! I see now where it's a die cut. Im new to all of this and I don't have one of those machines. That's ok I'll make a cover it just won't be as beautiful. I live right by the ocean in Monterey California and I have always wanted to put together a book that I could write all my adventures by the sea and at the warf in and when I saw your journal I knew that's what I wanted. I have watched your video a dozen times. I bought a printer just so I could make this. Your work is beautiful!!! I now get that "public domain" is not the name of a shop but a place to get images open to the public lol... I was going nuts looking for an etsy shop with that name Haha. Thank you for the links and maybe after all this craziness I may try to get a die cut machine and have you send me your pattern. I hope wherever you are in the world that you stay safe and well and tell your husband you have a new "Smudger" aka subscriber! Lol!!! Roxanne X♡

Rox Angel Well, my fellow smudger, lol!!!If I still have that image, I can use my cricut maker to cut it out for you and mail it to you. My email is craftylore@gmail.com. Just email me your address and I’ll send it out to you. It will be whatever size I used for my Captain’s Log journal, I just don’t remember what the dimensions were. I can send it with or without the images that I used for the windows of the diecut. Let me know!!! 🥰🥰
