Not sure how how you get bad fuel to both engines? We always had dual hardware; 2 batts, 2 fuel filters, 2 or 4 gas tanks, 2 or 3 bilge pumps (one in the front V). Still, a shame the jet ski could not tie on and tow. I'm pretty sure I could have pulled that boat fast enough to prevent it from sinking... Have towed and been towed enough to know how 😊.

My guess is a through hull fitting or valve gave way and the bilge pump couldn’t keep up or wasn’t working. It happens, sort of rare though.

I carry a clear 1 pint fuel sample bottle and check the fuel before going in and a sample after fueling. Maybe that wouldn't have helped him, but it never hurts either. I wonder why his life vest came off?

Not to ask a dumb question but was he working on the bilge or fuel pump?

Fuel filters. Started loosing power as he came in the cut and it died right as he approached the bridge. We’ve had some wicked outgoing tides lately cause of all the rain and it sucked him out into the surf before help could arrive.

IDK WTF happened but that hatch removal contributed. Traveling waters previously unknown, I hit a sandbar off Captiva Island one day. I didn't damage the hull but the impeller sucked in a lot of sand and it burst the hose line in my I/O. I was cruising along headed out in the Gulf and noticed the bilge was dumping a lot of water so I opened the engine bay and it was 3/4 full. Water was spewing everywhere. My wife was panic mode because of we had our young boy aboard. I shut down the motor, let it drain and pulled off a move that would've made MacGyver proud. I had a thick poncho so I cut a slice, wrapped it around the hose a couple of times and zip tied it. We went on with our day. Later I noticed the propeller was bent causing vibration at slow speed so I got a stainless.

At least they had some available. I have seen one video of a yacht sinking and the foolish crew couldn't find their lifevests. I think one of them found a lifevest but the vessel was already underwater by then. At least the rest of the crew could swim. ALWAYS learn how to swim. There's no such thing as "the right age" or time. My parents enrolled me in swimming lessons when I was about 5 or 6.

Put plug in boat

Bilge pumps were working when we towed it back to the ramp. Also had plug in. Had twin rule 2500’s, way oversized for that boat. Issue was open deck hatch to try and fix fuel problems. You can see the deck hatches floating away in video opening up entire bilge to water as the boat goes down.

The guy with the ski, clueless The transom was modified I had one with a removable door for following sea. I always had it on, easy to remove. should have immediately thrown anchor
