On 30th July 2016 Queen Mary 2 Captain Christopher Wells broadcasts his daily update from the bridge.
Queen Mary 2 was sailing an eastbound trans Atlantic crossing from New York to Southampton. This was the fourth full sea day since departing from Halifax; the crossing had included a call at Halifax, Nova Scotia on 26th July. Here on a clear Atlantic day, Captain Wells gives his customary noon address mentioning the island of Tearaght (Irish: An Tiaracht, meaning ''the westerly"), Valentia, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, Porcupine Abyssal Plain, sea cucumbers, sea spiders, tunicates and dumbo octopus. At 03:39 the third officer provides further navigational details.
