ThyssenKrupp Traction Elevators at the Texas State Capitol.

To honor the 245th Anniversary of American Independence, these are the incredibly nice, amazing elevators at the historic Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas, and even though these elevators have new door equipment, controllers, signal fixtures, and shaft equipment, at least the cabs were replicated with the same, upscale design that were used on the existing Dover elevators.
And even though CJ Anderson fixtures would have been a nicer option for a historic building, these fixtures are not bad, since they have both the EPCO beep and Dover BUZZ, as well as reusing the existing round directional lanterns (with new chimes and LED bulbs).
But at least some of the existing fixtures (hall stations) went into the possession of some notable elevator enthusiasts, and 100 thumbs up for ThyssenKrupp doing this amazing modernization project, even if the Capitol was closed down due to the pandemic, and this was also one of the very last ThyssenKrupp elevator projects in Texas before the name change to TK Elevator.
Original Capitol Specifications:
General - Otis/Geared Traction.
Performance - 2500 Lbs/10 HP Motor/5 HP Generator.
Distance - 90 feet/5 floors & 300 FPM.
Year - Installed/Mid-1880's (around 1886).
Fixtures - Antique Pre-Lexan.
Cab - Vanilla white ceiling with 2 art nouveau ceiling lights, open frame birdcage cab design with black walls/grills, pecan wood floor, & chocolate brown lobby doors/jambs.
1st Modernized Capitol Specifications:
General - Otis/Geared Traction.
Performance - 2500 Lbs/10 HP Motor/5 HP Generator.
Distance - 90 feet/5 floors & 300 FPM.
Year - Modernized/1936.
Fixtures - Antique Pre-Lexan.
Cab - Vanilla white ceiling with 2 art deco ceiling lights, chocolate brown walls with pecan rear panels/oak side panels & 4" wide brushed bronze handrail, granite floor, & brushed bronze fronts/car doors/lobby doors/jambs.
2nd Modernized Capitol Specifications:
General - Dover/Geared Traction.
Performance - 2500 Lbs/15 HP (main), 3500 Lbs/20 HP (service).
Distance - 120 feet/7 floors & 400 FPM (main), 80 feet/4 floors & 300 FPM (service).
Year - Modernized/1990-1991.
Fixtures - EPCO MML Bronze Vandal Resistant car/hall stations, architectural round lanterns with round/semicircular/quarter round lenses, & architectural floor indicators with Clarendon floor markings.
Cab - Pecan wood domed ceiling with perimeter fluorescent lighting, brushed bronze walls with dark pecan panels & 4" wide brushed bronze handrail, white marbled granite floor with forest green/burgundy red compass rose accent, Cordovan oak fronts/jambs, & brushed bronze car doors/lobby doors.
3rd Modernized Capitol Specifications:
General - ThyssenKrupp/Geared Traction.
Performance - 2500 Lbs/15 HP (main), 3500 Lbs/20 HP (service).
Distance - 120 feet/7 floors & 400 FPM (main), 80 feet/4 floors & 300 FPM (service).
Year - Modernized/2020.
Fixtures - GAL Jet-Plus II (MAD BS Vandal Resistant) car/hall stations, & architectural round lanterns with round/semicircular/quarter round lenses.
Cab - Pecan wood domed ceiling with LED perimeter lighting & 4 recessed LED lights, brushed bronze walls with dark pecan panels & 4" wide brushed bronze handrail, white marbled granite floor with forest green/burgundy red compass rose accent, Cordovan oak fronts/jambs, & brushed bronze car doors/lobby doors.
Recommended CJ Anderson Fixture Package = Series 2 (Architectural Historic) car & hall stations, round lanterns with green up/red down LED bulbs, and historic style floor indicators with Clarendon font markings & white LED bulbs.

Indeed, these elevators had EPCO MML for the Capitol, the Gubernatorial Suite, House Chamber, and Senate Chamber had EPCO WR Square Halo-Line, and the Underground Annex had Custom Impulse. However, the Gubernatorial Suite, House Chamber, and Senate Chamber elevators were in restricted (non public) areas of the building.

You always seem to go crazy into detail on the elevator itself and I find it interesting. These look to be very nice elevators. ThyssenKrupp did a great job modding these.

Hearing the dover buzz on these elevators felt so surreal as they discontinued the dover buzz in favor of the grocery beep in 2011, I still think the mod is cool though
