Another thing that supports this theory is that I noticed when skeleton ships spawned during a ghost fleet the skely ship sand the ghost ships would actually fight each-other, which proves that not every skeleton is loyal to flame heart. It is obvious that there will be a three way battle in the future, between Graymarrow, Flameheart and even the Gold Hoarder as he has returned as well.

I assume the skeleton hierarchy is based upon power, So by binding Flameheart it would really shake things up. Meaning that the skeleton lords would have to battle one and another in order to prove who is the most powerful and if Greymarrow did bind Flameheart it would pretty much be a one-way ticket straight to the top. Greymarrow can be a truly terrifying foe with enough prep time..

We never saw Greymarrow's ship in Fate of the Morningstar, as there's simply nothing out there the lantern finds, but who's to say there was merely one there? Perhaps he still has an armada, as given the lore introduced in Ashen Winds, it seems Wanda's skeleton ships were not the first, but merely one of a few more organized groups and the most recent of them (which by sheer logic of skeleton lords existing makes sense), though her cursing of them to become unsinkable did make them last longer overall. Still, perhaps Greymarrow leading his own ghostly and skeletal armada will bring about environment-vs-environment combat, an oft-requested feature, moreso than the little we already get, or even additional permeant events? The beacons and mechanics existing with the Shadows of Fate introduces the possibility of ships with similar aspects, so we could see more voyage types and world/ambient events from this too. This is on top of the continued weakening of the boundaries of the realm of the Damned on both sides, which leaves the possibility of that area becoming open if even just for a moment as well, particularly if Greymarrow intends to bring something more solid back such as his Shadows of Fate, like a similarly sometimes-solid ship - we can't use the ghost portals, since they're made only for the ghosts to go through, but if something solid came through one way it stands to reason we could go through in the other direction. It is interesting that Greymarrow has been a very perpetual force, as much so as Flameheart when you look at it - both have two Tall Tales directly relating to them, but while Flameheart sends forth his followers and inferiors - the ghost fleet, Wanda's skeleton crews and ships, the Ashen Lords - Greymarrow seems to prefer getting personal with his enemies, and his voice lines when we do hear them seem to support that. Additionally, if Greymarrow was the one to bind Flameheart to his body, it makes much sense that he would be in possession of the Chalice of Resurrection (which we also left lying on a table somewhere) which is decorated like everything else of Flameheart's. I wonder what else he might've gotten on his way out, in that same vein.

I always had a hunch Graymarrow was the one who betrayed Flameheart because think of it this way, Flameheart was more then likely a skeleton before he passed and only 2 people not counting the order of souls company knew about the soul binding ritual, Captain pendragon, and Captain Graymarrow, and only one of them is a skeleton and is old enough to be placed around that general area, therefore it most likely is Graymarrow. And to somewhat prove flameheart was a skeleton before he passed look at the ferry of the damned, if it was used in the war against flameheart then if he was human he could’ve just used it to return, skeletons are the only ones who can’t return via the ferry. But that’s just my take.

@@rick-luiscabal4295 During Flameheart's first appearance, explained he was betrayed by his own kind, he must've been referring to Graymarrow, who might've been partners with him at one point, then he pulled a mutiny and bound his soul to his skull, his loyal crew took their captain's remains hid his coffin at Flintlock Peninsula. Some time later in the future, Pendragon and our pirates set out on a voyage to free the skulls of trapped souls, including Flameheart, undoing Graymarrow's soul binding, thus releasing him onto the Sea of Thieves.

Honestly I already thought that was the case? I always saw it as it was all infighting between splinter groups of skelly's that all wanted power. To me, the ashen lords are Flame hearts loyal commanders, while the other lord, like the two face dude, were all loyal to Grey Marrow.

I think the buzz around the update was also created because of the fact that the game itself is still holdin' up the price (at least on steam), yet they have very expensive microtransaction shop added to the game. So people tend to expect more, when the game is more monetized and trust me I'm seeing a lot of people rocking the new ship set that isn't at all cheap. It wouldn't be big of a deal If the ancient coins were somehow obtainable, I'm not counting the ancient skeletons, because that all comes down to luck and in my long career of playing I've seen just two of those. I just don't think that expensive games should have expensive microtransactions. Pets are fine, emotes sure, but a virtual ship set for 25 bucks? That's a lot.
