Wow, Captain Matt, Brilliant 👏 and you're right...We're Worm 🪱 People! I've been Gardening for over 50 years and a retired florist. I bought a Can-O-Worms in 2009 and 2,000 Red Wigglers. This system is just off my kitchen and I've never had a problem with smell or bugs. I think most homes could raise their own worms and enjoy the benefits of Castings and Leachate 👍🪱👍 I just subscribed to your channel and see you are getting close to the big milestone 👍 Wishing you success 🎉

Hi Capt Matt, just wondering if you have the schematics & materials list for the smaller bin you built for your neighbor
@CaptainMattsWorms
@CaptainMattsWorms Жыл бұрын
Hey Theresa… it’s on our list - but likely won’t be short term with the growing season on us now. You could just shorten the length measurements and keep all else the same.

I built a continuous flow worm bin but I have a problem. I have worms falling thru the bottom and into the bins on the ground. Then they crawl out of the bins onto the garage floor and eventually die. Is this normal or should I be doing something different?

There seems to be some inconsistencies with the published diamgram and the information in the videos. Like 3/4" pvc vs 1" pvc. The height of the base not mentioned in the video, but seems too short in the diagram to get a 24" tall plywood board on the back and side of the base. Also, the length of the top 8' 2x6 on the front and back shouldnt be long enough when the 9/16 or 3/4 thick plywood is placed on the ends. Sorry, I'm a detail oriented person and have some experience in carpentry.

I wonder if I can build these in a smaller size for hobby gardening. I'm thinking 2x2x2 on some legs just for home composting and beneficial castings on a small scale.

What a wonderful video. I found out in 2011 that I had Parkinson's disease and my life changed. In 1978 I enrolled in a small business management class in college. One of the requirements was to study a small business and give an oral presentation to the class. The class laugh at me. The professor was impressed and said it had lots of potential. I never gave it another thought until three years ago. My health was going to get worse I knew and I started to sale my businesses. I have always been very active and as II was thinking about my future and what I would do to stay busy the thought cam to me to grow worms. So I did and still growing. I have had a very hard time finding information how to grow it to the next level and here you are. 1. When you apply your worm chow how do you apply it evenly and how are controlling moisture to wet your feed? 2. In your video you showed some compost that you feed your worms. It contains large non composted pieces that will not get chewed up by the worms. Will it plug up your flow through? 3. Do you run all of your casting from your bin through a sieve or Trommell if so what size is your screens? 4. How about the little white critters silver tails i think they call them. that is enough questions for now I look forward to watch You build a new bin and seeing it work. Please show how you harvest your casting and how you process them. Thank you so much for how you have helped me already
