Emma & Henry's relationship is so beautiful & healthy overall. It annoys me so much when people say Emma had no rights to take Henry away. She had all the rights. She gave him up because she wanted him to have the best chance. Surely it was the best thing considering her circumstances being 18, alone and in jail. Yet when she saw how Regina treated Henry, she knew he didn't get his best chance. She was an amazing mum to Henry right from the start. She could've just dropped Henry off at Storybrooke and left. But she stayed despite the uphill battle with Regina. At least in S1-S3 Regina was such a bad mum. Gaslighting Henry, manipulating him, blackmailing his therapist (Archie), murdered people, wanting to murder Emma whom she knew means the world to Henry and ended up almost killing Henry. All just because she wanted to own Henry for herself. It's crazy how people seem to void her wrongdoings because she raised him alone for 10 years yet he never felt loved which is why he went looking for Emma to begin with. You can raise a child but if the child doesn't feel loved/feel abandoned then you failed If anything I believe Emma could've got full custody of Henry because Gold made the adoption happen so pretty sure it was illegal anyway. In the real world a criminal like Regina would be locked up behind bars for good so she would've lost Henry anyway. But I see both Emma & Henry gave Regina a chance because they still see the little bit of good in her. I'm glad she did become a good mother after S3. In S2 when Henry lived with the Charmings & Emma he was such a happy boy unlike in S1 when he lived with Regina. In the last EP of S1 when Emma was going to leave he couldn't cope with the thought of not having Emma daily in his life so he ate the apple knowing he'd die from it. Yet in S3 when Regina had to send Emma & Henry to live in NY, he could accept it even knowing he won't ever remember Regina anymore. I believe it's because Emma would be there with him. Just an amazing mother -son bond
