Sean Smith returned to Waitomo for New Zealand Glowworm photography in January 2019. He opens the sequence on the Spellbound Glowworm and Cave tour where the Mangawhitikau stream changes from a small canyon, to being captured by the hard , fractured limestone rock. Vast numbers of these creatures call this cave home, the high humidity, stable temperature and abundance of invertebrates for them to feed on made this cave perfect. Sir David Attenborough described it as 'astonishing' when he and his crew filmed here for BBC's Planet Earth in 2005.
Sean has joined together hundreds of images in each of the 4 sequences, to create a beautiful artwork.
The video ends with a still shot, that is really 2 merged images , which maintains clarity on the visitors faces. ( Corin Walker Bain Photo)
