Yeah many users might not need or want this capability but it’s nice to have if you need it. I don’t actually use it on my own home network.

I love your videos. They helped me a lot from migrating from pfsense to opnsense. You could also make a video about freeradius and dynamic vlan assignments. There are not really any good tutorial on youtube for opnsense yet.

Glad you like the videos and they have helped you migrate to OPNsense! I've had another request or 2 for Freeradius guides so I need to put that higher on my priority list.

Thank you! I'm glad when others appreciate the content. Even though I've been keeping it simple so far, it still takes a decent amount of time to produce (and I'm not a full-time content creator so I'm also time constrained).

Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting your device to the network? It might not work right away until the device is connecting to the network again. Also, you can do the captive portal on any network. However, you should still try to keep one network where there is no captive portal so you don't potentially lock yourself out of managing OPNsense (I'm not sure if the anti-lockout rule will help or not if you have captive portal enabled on all of the interfaces or the interface where you intend to manage OPNsense).

Hi HomeNetwork i configured the OPNsense Captive Portal for my network, but I’ve encountered a challenge. After completing the setup, the captive portal login page does not automatically pop up in users' browsers when they connect to the network. Despite following the configuration steps and ensuring that the necessary settings are in place, users are not being redirected to the captive portal as expected. I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue and would be grateful if you could guide me through any additional steps or troubleshooting methods that I may have overlooked. Looking forward to your guidance.

will you make a a video on how to control traffic for dual isp like browsing, dowloading, streaming on the first isp and gaming on the second isp?
@homenetworkguy8 ай бұрын
I'm hoping to do some content on dual WAN configurations at some point, but I haven't spent the time yet digging into it deeper. What you're asking would be policy based routing (via firewall rules) to direct clients to use different gateways (I believe).
@JorvsUchiha8 ай бұрын
@@homenetworkguy some countries here has unstable or limited fiber speed so having a dual ISP is a better option and separating traffic for each ISP with different plans and bandwidth hope you make it will be waiting for it

I use Proxmox so I’m not familiar with how to set up the network interfaces in VMware, but I had the interfaces set up as bridges in Proxmox when doing this demo.

I’d have to check the video to know for sure, but I did have some issues with that from time to time on my old PC. I’ve swapped some hardware recently. I also bought an Intel Arc GPU which helps accelerate video processing so I’m in a better position for video editing.

Great work. Thank you for your video. I'm also wondering which Linux distro you are using.
@homenetworkguy9 ай бұрын
You're welcome! The Linux distro shown in this video is Kubuntu. I love KDE/Plasma since it's sorta like Windows but with less bloat (don't have ads in the menus, etc). Of course it is heavier weight than other desktop environments but it still performs well on modern hardware. Some of my videos feature Ubuntu since that's just what I happened to install on some of my test machines. My main PC uses Kubuntu and I do most of my work on that system.
@onerpeksirin16079 ай бұрын
Thank you for your answer. I'm currently using ZorinOs. As you said Kubuntu is a little heavier than the others. Every time I'm trying different kind of distro like Ubuntu,Debian. I will try Kubuntu at the first opportunity. Thank you again.
