Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid Walkthrough (2018 Model + Yamaha 300)

We're happy to share a detailed walkthrough of a customized 2018 Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid Bay Boat. This 2018 model 2500 Hybrid offers shallow draft for stalking the flats, but with a unique stepped hull and high gunnels, is a great vessel for targeting nearshore and offshore species in a variety of water conditions.
Powered with a Yamaha 300hp outboard, the boat has a top end of around 57mph at 5700rpm. At cruise at 4000rpm, the boat cruises at 35mph burning about 2.8-3.0mpg depending on load and fuel on board.
For electronics, we've gone with the Raymarine Axiom Pro 12 Chartplotter & Sonar featuring side vision, down vision, 3D mapping, and CHIRP high-frequency sonar via twin through hull transducers.
Remote auto deploy is available on the Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor for hands-free deployment and operation, perfect for allowing anglers to fish the forward deck while you run the trolling motor from the rear.

Hi Ross, I have wanted a 2400 TRS for a long time and the 2400 TE before that, but I think I like the 2500 Hybrid design even more. What made you choose the hybrid over other pathfinder models like the 2400 TRS or 2600 HPS (other than price)? For me, that foredeck seems awesome. It’s like a flats boat deck instead of a traditional bay boat design, yet you have the nice step up to the fore casting deck which is a plus. Also, that stern cockpit cut-out seems like a great idea for cockpit space.

I'd ran the 2400 for several years, but felt like it would shudder pretty hard in heavy chop. The 2500 feels totally solid running in slop.

@@TheIntrepidAngler is that achieved by the VARIS system? Good to hear the boat is solid. I read some of your other comments below as well. Do you prefer this deck layout compared to the 2400?

Great video! This is the most in depth review of the 2500 I have seen. Were you able to test this boat in rough seas? I am curious how it handles in 2-4 ft seas. Obviously not the kind of boat you take out in real nasty weather.

Thanks for the comment and glad you like the video. I actually test drove the boat during TS Alberto last summer. It was legit 3' chop while gusting to 40mph. I intentionally hit the chop at "wrong angles" to see how the hull would push through. It's an absolute unit, pushing through very sloppy conditions with ease. I found the boat wanted to run 18-21mph to stay on step. Also had another trip getting caught in afternoon thunderstorm and pushed through 13 miles of very sloppy and confused 2-3's while offshore, rode very solid and got us home safely.

I have been looking at the various hybrids throughout the industry and curious how they would handle the waters up here in New England. Sounds like the hull can take a beating. We rarely run offshore the distance you southern guys go, typically 20 miles, but the conditions can change quickly as I am sure you know. Keep making great content. Subscribed!

I've fished around Cape Cod and the boat would be comfortable for normal afternoon windy days crossing vineyard sound. It's quite a dry ride as well.@@vapor151

If your doing a boat walk through you should know the details.... never use the word about or should... and that livewell in the back is not 60gal its 35
