id like to clear some things up, the reg key for w11 for "optimization for fullscreen settings" was not working in w10. This turned out to be a game engine thing. As an example you cannot play overwatch in windowed mode with hw:independent flip on w10, you can on w11 with this setting. So some of this stuff is really up to the game developer. Valorant recently fixed this on w10 so thats cool. YES cloning is better there is no latency impact or framerate difference as long as you check what flip model your in. Make sure your in fullscreen mode + legacy flip or hw independent flip when cloning and your latency and framerate will be fine. Please just read my video post desc. It's annoying, the desc answers half of the youtube questions in the chat here. If anyone has further questions just join the discord. I'll repost the video desc here... CLONING Advantages -no framerate loss -easy to deal with -potential better image quality (no loss like OBS game capture) Disadvantages -screen tearing on the recordings/stream -alt tabbing is slow -cant play in windowed mode OBS FULLSCREEN PROJECTOR OR OBS NDI Advantages -privacy, choose game capture and not show desktop -no tearing on the recordings/stream -can play windowed mode Disadvantages -framerate loss with game capture on game pc -framerate loss with OBS NDI (NDI is toxic on memory latency) -potential worse image quality (OBS game capture) GSYNC AND VSYNC CLONED vsync works great on new drivers cloned gsync will work cloned too, make sure capture card isnt VRR or use cru for you rcapture card to remove VRR on game pc custom EDID CLONING WATCH OUT when new drivers come out use frameview, check game is fullscreen with "F" and your in hardware independent flip mode with "I" amd users can check this with frameview also

So glad we were able to get to the bottom of this (mostly you) ndi is cool but very annoying to get right regarding audio desync and now cloning is fixed on higher res which is huge news! Fantastic video as always chris!

I also had the feeling NDI creates lot of overhead. At least when I was testing NDI with LatencyMon vs obs local capture, NDI had worse latency when gaming.

Hey man. Love the videos. Have been a follower for a while now. Been thinking of going thru with your pc service optimization . How exactly does it work? Is it all remote, I just leave my pc on? Great video. I had to switch to projecting as randomly a few months ago whilst cloning every time I tabbed out it would cause Warzone to scan & repair. Couldn't work out why. Unplugged capture card and noticed when I tabbed out it wouldn't scan & repair. So projected instead and it solved the issue. Very strange. I tried cloning a while back and still the crashing happened so left it alone. U ever experienced that?

driver shouldnt matter, read youtube desc on how to test if your in hw independant flip if its not try a different driver i think most newer drivers are patched and its fine "CLONING WATCH OUT when new drivers come out use frameview, check game is fullscreen with "F" and your in hardware independent flip mode with "I" amd users can check this with frameview also"

Is the dual OBS way so OBS on game and stream PC still the best when playing on a 540hz monitor when u want as less tearing onstream as possible while keep ultra low latency?

if you want no tearing on your recordings/stream with dual pc setup you will have to use obs FSP or obs ndi

I hate to say but I feel there is input delay on both cloning and obs ndi. When I got my 9800x3d I was playing the game for a week before thinking about streaming/recording and I was shredding my opponents. As soon as I started cloning my monitor to elgato I noticed I started playing like something was holding me back and I never thought it was from cloning at first So I unplugged everything and went back to normal. There I was again shredding my opponents.

brother dual pc is always better, you loose frames with game capture, streaming recording. is that not obvious?

@@FR33THY yeah lose about 20-30fps streaming but fps that low doesn’t necessarily indicate higher or lower input lag that would be noticeable. I’m more asking for the sake of there was issues with input lag.. with dual pc. And asking if the input lag on dual pc (not fps) is lower or higher than single pc( due to the cloning or whatever)

Im using 1080p would it be worth it to do the clone method but run games in fullscreen borderless as that results in no tearing. Or would that have the same input latency as extend displays and obs fsp, game set to fullscreen exclusive.

Hey can you release the tweak for the reg key that you use on windows 10 but it’s really for windows 11? That’s literally the only reason why I use Windows 11😭just to have that lower latency in d12 and games that don’t always support fullscreen exclusive , I have an obsession with bypassing dwm!
