Video Outline:
Introduction: Overview of the symbolic meaning of California poppies and how they reflect themes of resilience and renewal.
Sketching: I begin by outlining our scene using a 3B pencil, carefully planning the composition to capture the spirit of these iconic flowers.
Applying First Wash: We start with a wet-on-wet technique, laying down a yellow and pink foundation that suggests California spring's warmth and brightness.
Building Colors and Details: Introducing more saturated hues and defining shapes with various brushes to enhance depth and realism.
Adding Shadows and Highlights: Using darker values and detailed brushes to draw shadows cast by nearby plants and add texture to the petals and foliage.
Final Touches: Refining the painting with a liner and small detail brushes to ensure every aspect of the poppies' beauty is captured.
Conclusion: Reflecting on the painting process and the joy that watercolor painting can bring into our lives, especially during challenging times.
Whether you're here to paint along or relax and enjoy the beauty of watercolor, this tutorial is designed to provide a comprehensive guide to creating your own piece of nature. Remember, like the California poppies, we thrive best when we support each other. Keep painting, exploring, and sharing your art.
With Love and Peace,
Elnura

Hi dear Elnura ❤ I'm so happy to see a new video from you!🥰 I really hope this means you're feeling better.💪😊 Thank you for all the suggestions you gave us in this video! Your painting is beautiful.😍 Poppies are among my favorite flowers, but those that grow here are red (sunny red - my description😉). They were blooming cca. a month ago. May I ask you about the paper you used? Is it by Hahnemühle (The Collection - Watercolor)? I really love this paper (cold pressed). May you have a great weekend, feeling better and better and better! I'm sending tons of love to you and your little companion on four legs ❤️🥰🦮💞

Dear Nisa, Thank you for your beautiful comment 💖 I am feeling a bit better and am still recovering. This is the cold-pressed, 140-pound paper by Arches. I love it! I have all kinds of paper, and I find myself coming back to Arches again and again because it lets me express my creativity the most. On the other hand, I usually sketch and plan on a simple watercolor paper; it doesn’t have to be Arches. I hope I answered your question and please let me know if you have more. Have a wonderful day ✨💖🙌🏻

@@KuldaevaWatercolor A big Thank-You, dear Elnura. Arches is extremely popular among artist, and it's available here in Slovenia. But I admit that its price is too high for my taste.😉 The paper I mentioned became available maybe 3 years ago here and I fell in love with it immediatelly. I also tried Fabriano before and a few other less known brands, but ... 🤨 ... I didn't like them. Besides, last year I hesitantly bought the 640 gsm version (300 lbs) of "my" paper and it turned my world upside-down again.😄 So I guess I'm done for now. 😊 Please, take good care of yourself! I know what it means to live with chronic pain. But I have no doubt that your little friend gives you much comfort (together with lots of responsability) 🥰🫶🪷🦄

@@nisamorin2519 Dear Nisa, Yes, Arches paper is, indeed, very expensive and I have to reserve it for my final pieces. I found that the alternative paper by Baohong is more affordable. However, Baohong is still inferior to Arches in many ways. I like to practice and sketch on Baohong sometimes as it is one of the papers that comes a bit closer to the versatility of Arches paper 😊
