Excellent work, my brother. Love how you so clearly explain the gear used, and HOW you use it. I don't photograph this type of thing, but can clearly understand how and why you choose the gear you do, and why it's so important.

Great video. Thank You. I've been using dual camera straps but it looks untidy and always afraid that the cameras might knock something. What camera clips are you using on your belt?
@MotoPhotoAdventures
@MotoPhotoAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind comment. I use a dual Spyder Holster system. They have their own belt for this. But I actually have mine mounted to a ThinkTank Speed Belt. I love this setup! It distributes all the weight to my hips and core, instead of placing undue strain on my back and shoulders.

How did you light the subjects when using the 200mm. Seems far to light with oncamera flash

Hey Mr. Plasticbag, Jason here. Part of the MPA gang. Off camera flash, sir. Off camera flash. Look at 6:44 in the background. Remote controlled flash. He has several of them around the perimeter of the room so they all flash when he hits the shutter.

Hi Mr. Plasticbag! Jason is correct. If you watch the setup portion of the video, I describe how I light the room with 4 off-camera flashes. Watch the whole video and you'll understand. Enjoy!

Thank you, Mara! I'm glad it helped. Here's a link to our event pricing: chrisandcami.com/pricing/events/. Of course pricing is totally subject to the market you're in, your experience level, the clientele you're going after, etc. You might also want to watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJWxn5uPgqprd9U. @MotoPhotoAdventures
@MotoPhotoAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it, Alien. I use the Spyder Holster. I've attached my holsters to a ThinkTank SpeedBelt with their PixelRacing Harness. I love this setup! I can shoot all day without shoulder/neck/back pain. Plus I can carry all my spare lenses and gear with me, and not have to worry about hiding a camera bag in the corner, hoping nobody steals it.

Nice lighting! Do you have a tutorial on how you set them all up?
@MotoPhotoAdventures
@MotoPhotoAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks man! You must be a photographer. 🙂 We don't have a tutorial on our setup. I can tell you we start with the factory defaults and tweak them slightly. Plus we customize the menu on the back to give us quick access to our most used features. But there are already tons of great "settings" videos in the YouVerse for you on such things!

Nice work. I have an upcoming event and I’m using my 5D Mark 3, with my 70-200, and 24-105 lenses. Also with 1 on camera flash. Any recommendations?
@MotoPhotoAdventures
@MotoPhotoAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Chris! Sounds like you've got a good kit. Without setting up any off-camera flashes, my best recommendation is to practice your bounce-flash techniques. On-camera flash can look pretty harsh. You may "have" to just point at the subject to get enough light. But if the room is small enough, or if you have light-colored ceilings and walls to work with, drop your your shutter speed, increase your ISO, and turn your flash to bounce off a nearby wall or ceiling. By blending the ambient light with some bounce-flash, you'll achieve more "natural" looking results. It's pretty amazing how well bounce flash works against a wall, even one that's pretty far away! Good luck and have fun!!!

Hello, thanks for this video! I am about to photograph my first corporate event at the Convention Center in San Diego this year. I am wondering about where you place your off camera flashes. Do you ever have to move them or do you place them in one spot throughout the event. I also wanted to know if you ever use backdrops for headshots and if so, what would you recommend as a white background for a maximum group or about 8 or 9 people. Thank you!
@MotoPhotoAdventures
@MotoPhotoAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Tahli! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Light placement varies depending on the room and the event. For a typical reception like this in a normal sized venue, I place one light in each corner, facing towards the center. For long skinny rooms, I might use six light-stands with one in each corner plus two in the middle of the long wall opposite each other. For an awards ceremony or event where all the action is on stage, I might only use 2 lights set up like spot lights aiming at the stage. All light-stands have 10-lb BoaBags weight on them to prevent anyone from knocking them over (and prevent any lawsuits). Once they are set up, I rarely move them. The additional lights add depth and dimension to the images. But of course I'm also incorporating my on-camera flash as either a fill light or a main light, depending on the situation. To answer your other question, yes I shoot tons of headshots and group photos where I use a backdrop and light everything with the same speedlights. You should check out my blog. Many times I share behind-the-scenes photos and details about my setup, like here: chrisandcami.com/high-key-headshots-2/. This was a small setup just for headshots. If you are doing a group, you will need a larger backdrop like I used here: chrisandcami.com/marketing-photos-for-truist-wealth/. This is 107" wide seamless paper backdrop by Savage. For 8 or 9 people, you might need to get the 140" size. Or you might be able to put 4 people on stools in the front, and 5 people standing behind them, and make it fit the 107" size background. Here is a good guide on their website: savageuniversal.com/blog/how-to-choose-the-right-seamless-paper-size/. Of course you can always use a wide fabric backdrop as well. But honestly, if you want white, the Super White seamless paper options from Savage always turn out really nice because they don't have any wrinkles like fabric sometimes has. I hope this helps. Feel free to browse my blog by searching for key words like "Events" or "Headshots", etc. Cheers...

Hi Dhiraj! I'm glad you enjoyed it. This video was recorded using the built-in Nikon Creative Lighting System. You can find many videos on how to use this online. However, I have now switched to using Godox flashes. I find their wireless trigger system is better. Plus their flashes are much cheaper than Nikon. I hope this helps!

@@Saywhatohno if you watch and listen carefully, I explain I'm using 2 Nikon SB-5000 on-camera flashes to add "fill light" and to act as controllers for the 4 off-camera flashes. The off-camera flashes in this case are Nikon SB-800, which are mounted on the black light-stands you saw me setting up in the 4 corners of the room at the beginning. I have switched to using Godox/Flashpoint brand flashes since this video. But they do essentially the same thing. I hope this helps!
